The DS-230 finally came and I am thinking ahead a bit. I was wondering if it would be good to attend the interview with my husband or not when the time comes? Keep in mind that I don't know for sure if I can be in there with him but I was wondering if it is an advantage to have your spouse there during the interview? Any suggestions, thoughts, etc would be appreciated. Thanks!

From what I've seen, the very first thing before worrying about it, is to check with the consulate regarding whether you will even be permitted to be there for interview - apparently many consulates won't let the spouse in for the interview.

Apart from that, many people seem to feel like it will make them more comfortable, and with this stressful process that can only be a good thing. Finally, there is a (probably small) chance that there will be a question that one spouse knows the answer to that the other doesn't, and you may be able to provide the response immediately.

All in all, it seems like whatever will work best for you is what you should do smile.gif

Good luck!! I'm expecting my IV Fee bill this week, and am about to prepare the DS230 myself.

Check with the embassy as to whether you are allowed to go.. as this may solve your dilema

But if it is ok to be there, don't let it distract you from taking the correct documents - moral support is one thing but the most important thing is to concentrate on the requirements...

I think the worst aspect of the interview is boredom and being sent hither and thither rather than the need for emotional support... but that is with hindsight; at the time it is fear of the unknown - but it's ok really as long as you have got all your bits and bobs with you and you know your hither from your thither and your bobs from your bits ....
