hi everyone! i need your help here please...

i'll go directly to the point!!!

last friday - january 19,2007 i received a letter from the embassy - i thought it was packet 3 but it wasn't. it was a letter asking for evidence that i am staying here legally. i have a work permit but it was issued in ontario. right now..i am unemployed, staying here in vancouver but my stay here is very legal. i'll fax my work permit. but do i still have to attach a letter stating my condition or will it complicate it more?

thanks for the help!

Is your Canadian work permit still valid even though you are no longer employed? You are required to change your work permit if your employment terms change and I would guess not being employed any longer would constitute a change.

thank you for the reply...

yes..my canadian work permit is still valid. i am allowed to stay here & look for a job before it expires. but when it does expire - i need to leave canada.

I didn't get the impression that you could stay and look for work until your permit expired. What I took from the information I read was that you are required to apply to change your permit if your circumstances of employment change. Now, you may have already addressed that issue, that I don't know and if you have it would assumably be noted on your work permit.
If I were to venture a guess , I would say that is what the consulate is looking to gain information about........ that your status in Canada is legal. Since we dont know enough abut your particular circumstances, I think it would be difficult for anyone to guide you much more.

rUsSeLL&fAyE,

I'm getting the feeling that the consulate is trying to figure out if they can process your visa applicaton (or perhaps, if they want to process your visa application), or if you should apply at the consulate in Manilla.

In any event, answer the letter explaining your situation.
