On, pleeeezzzzz! Then, the "classy people's" (assuming there are some here) discussions cannot include:

Sex during menses,

The permissibility of oral sex,

Polygynyous marriages,

Prayer during menses,

Sex during engagements,

All of which have been discussed here in the past, coz, expressing an opinion about each tells us what's happening or not happening each night at those women's homes!

Cuts out a lot of common Muslim subject matter here and says alot about the "lowlifes" of God and the Prophet.

Amen. Also, there's a difference between saying, "my dildo is green" and writing erotica. If you think it's TMI, that's fine, but there's no need to turn a non-detailed, non-descriptive joking comment into the Marquis de Sade and discussing your intimate life with strange men (um, where?) and what will the husband think (American women are normally in the habit of only speaking after clearing it with the censors?) and this isn't good MENA values (half of these couples are still American, right?)...

I try very hard to stay out of the bullsh*t that inevitably becomes "discussion" on this board, but I think one of the points being made is that OP was feeling pretty down. She just married and is again separated by a pretty large distance from her new hubby. I'm sure discussing sex toys and other sexual matters REALLY didn't help matters much. Not difficult to understand why.

Now I realize that folks here see everything as an opportunity for a free-for-all (I've been guilty of it too... refer to the SSN discussion post RE: soap but I stopped myself) but its a shame its easily forgotten that each and every one of us suffers from emotions during this process and they can easily be trampled on.

I don't care for the dildo discussion, so I didn't participate in it. I'm not tossing any judgements here. Folks do what they want to. Just hard to watch people being trampled at the expense of others "fun".

It will never cease to amaze me how people can read into posts what they want. No one here had a problem with the talk of sex toys as much as they had a problem with the contradictory behaviors and thoughts that run rampant in MENA. Anyone who is in MENA on a regular basis and bothers to take the time to understand what they are reading and the dynamics at play here know exactly to what I am referring.

If anyone thinks jokes about sex toys are inappropriate they so not have to post (as I amsure several did) and if you think jokes about sex toys are amusing, then knock youself out. But do not come here one day protraying yourself as a conservative muslima witha conservative MENA husband living a modest lifestyle only to turn aroudn and call other people prudes for questioning the NOT the appropriateness of a sex joke, but guestioning the contradictory nature of your posts.

Actually I was looking at your I130timeline and assumed that you filed the I129F at the same time without paying attention. It seems as though they are holding the I130's up until the I129F's get processed and even then the new trend is to retain the I130. The I129 seems to be going well. I've seen many from Vermont have their NOA2 within anywhere from 30 to 60 days, though there are the exceptions so keep your hopes up!!!

And I can totally relate to the fact that this should be the honeymoon lovey dovey time. Hang in there kiddo...this too shall pass. Surah 94 was suggested to me last night and I have vowed to read it everyday until this whole nightmare is over. rose.gif

My daughter was suppose to pay my bills for me but didnt so I am behind three months.

I gave my daughter all my extra money to pay her bills.

I dont have a job yet so no money comming in but child support.

My daughter moved in with me 18, her husband and baby too. All in a three bedroom small house.

I was pregnant that is why I came back to the USA from Jordan.

I lost the baby.

My mom tried to take me to court to get custody of my children as she didnt want me to take them to Jordan.
Since she lost that, she got intouch with my bipolar ex husband and tried to get him to take me to court (he who has supervised visitations and he hasnt seen the girls in a year or so)

I have interviewd and tested for ONE job four times and have to go in tomorrow and monday for final tests and interview.

I dont have a car but I did buy my daughter a car before I left, but someone smashed out her window and she doesnt have insurance on it...

I have a 13 yr old with a attitude from hades. She is a red head so should I say more?

I have a 11 yr old who cried because she had to take pubic busses to school and she was terrified to go alone.

I have shut off notices from Electric and Gas and the phone charge to start phone service is 300.00. but you have to have a phone to get a job right?

I had the flu, then pneumonia.

I am now on antidepressants but I cant sleep from them

My best friend brought me groceries and gave me 100.00

My husbands bil died and he has to take care of his sister and her three kids on top of another divorced sister and a sister who has cerebral palsy. He is working so much

DH had a heart attack due to stress and highblood pressure.

My house needs a good cleaning and with three girls living here well four with me, it should be spotless. I cant do it all!

I have a yeast infection...sigh!

I miss my husband

On a serious side i do have a question, probably not the right place to post but i know those that will have the answers are here. In the religious teaching (of which i am learning from what you all tell me) so this is just a (in example) question. Smoking, drinking and eating of the pork are forbidden? right? Ok so now my question is, how can one make the decision to do one (say smoke) knowing they are going against what is taught. How can you be selective in which parts you want to follow and which you dont, what could the possible argument be to allow some and not the other?

Next how many of your men do smoke, drink or do both?

How many of you girls smoke or drink or do both?

Im just curious to hear opinions, i dont want judgements or name calling and i dont want this to be 50 pages of you said, he said, why did you say,

Neither my husband nor I smoke, drink, or eat pork for that matter.

As an aside, we don't go around passing judgements on those who do. However, if I read someone on here calling someone out for drinking or smoking and then go on to talk about what they do that is out of line with their religion (by definitions they themselves have given), I would probably speak up. My speaking up would be about their hypocrisy and not whatever behavior they are engaging in. I probably do several things I feel are not what I should be doing in a single day, so I try not to be critical of how others are are handling their faith; however, when someone calls others out saying it clear, easy, the behavior is indulgent etc, and then goes on to make an exception for themself, it proves it isn't always so clear or easy and nearly everyone indulges in something or other.

Because people are human and sometimes people become addicted to cigarettes because they started too young, or whatever the case may be. Or because they've chosen some things aren't as important to them. It's their own personal decision, because it's their religion to practice. I don't think it matters how people choose to follow their religion, but if they call someone out for something and then later do the same thing, that's hypocrisy, and that's the issue on this thread.
Private
What makes me angry is this word "hypocrisy"? In Islam it does not have the same weight that it does in Christianity. I feel like when people try to look at Islam and compare they always some up short. When you are a Muslims you take things a step at a time, trying to be a Muslim is not an over night process. The prophet or God I am not sure which one did not recommend, however, we are not to embraces all aspects of the religion because you will go crazy and just dismiss it all.

It is like a 12 step progress because it is a lot of things that you have to learn and also you have to navigate through the culture that is incorporated however it is not really religion. A big one is like changing your name? Why do people do this, I choose not to and neither is my son name going to be change. There is nothing wrong with it and our names do not have blasphemes meanings. So why do this, because someone said I should. As you grow in the religion you grow in your faith and your practices and things began to be incorporated in your life. The 5 pillars however are considered to the be must when it comes to Islam and as you do these everything comes naturally.

Me I have my demons that I fight and or course everyone has theirs, how you choice to deal with and as long as you are not hurting anyone I think you are doing great. No Muslim can say that someone is not Muslim. If I say something and do something that is what I have to deal with not anyone else. I think the thing that gets under people skins that someone that claims to not practice a faith or they are a religion however they say things that are clearly not what they are suppose to do.

I do not see Muslims attacking other groups, but when it is the other way around you see it go until the trend is closed. We all come from various backgrounds and cultures and I think that I learn something from you guys even though I may not like what was said or happened. Besides tomorrow is another day.

But I will close with this “How Muslim I am” is my busy. It is my personal relationship with god not yours or anybody else. And if it is what you say, that a Muslim is calling people out and trying to explain the opposite culture/religion etc. then I would be more than happy to them to- “Mind your business and there relationship with their god is their business.” However I know that this is the other way around.

Good answers and thank you to each, keep it away from previous thread. I dont smoke or drink either but Ahmed does both, does not drink like a drunk, but still will have a drink. Just because i dont i wont down someone that does either, but might question how they can choose to do that over another teaching but i do know in the end will be a personal thing. I think the thing is... most people don't look at other religions as a checklist of rules, but this often happens with Islam, and it is the outward signs that are often focused on, drinking, smoking, hijab, etc. I feel faith is a personal relationship with God, and as we each of us are different, there will be different things that strengthen or weaken that relationship for us. For me, hijab carries no weight in how I feel, but charity does. I feel strongest in my faith when I am giving, when I am reaching out to the "fringes" of society. For someone else it could hijab because of the struggles/submission that entails. I think if we look at it as a list of rules than it is easy to wonder how we pick and choose (and for some it actually is how they practice), but I think for many it is a work in progress and it is something that can change with time.

Thank you.... I keep thinking positive. God has reasons for everything. I try not to let things get to me.

Agreed. Nice post.

The prude patrol is awake and I am ashamed of what I am reading here. The OP was down and out last night and the LAST thing she needed was to see her thread turn into this.

This thread accomplished one thing. It totally separated the members with class from the lowlifes.

Jackie
doodle hope this day is better than yesterday.

Jackie I'm wondering when you're going to send out the list that you have compiled of the "lowlifes" here. What makes people lowlifes? That's a pretty harsh statement.

What is so shameful here? Is no one allowed to comment on posts they disagree with or find disgusting? You tell me who the patrol is because I thought we were allowed to say whatever we want last time I checked.

Another thing is that this discussion has nothing to do with doodle. She is not feeling well I think we all know that. Why does that mean we can't hold our own discussions and debates? When I'm not feeling well I would never expect people to walk on eggshells around me or not to go off topic in one of my threads. It happens all of the time. That's nice of you to try to protect Doodle but no one is even talking about her here and I think she knows that this discussion has nothing to do with her. Who is patrolling this thread? The ones having an open discussion or the ones saying leave Doodle alone she doesn't feel well and how much of a disgrace it is to see this thread has gone off topic.

You constantly say you stay out of the drama on VJ however you always post right in the middle of it. What makes you different than any of the other members?

So are you saying that the classy members are the ones describing their sex toys?

Whatever Sarah. I was not meaning you. Not that I have to explain myself to you or anyone. I DO stay out of most of the drama, ###### if I stayed out of ALL of it I would never be allowed to post except about the weather.

But do not come here one day protraying yourself as a conservative muslima witha conservative MENA husband living a modest lifestyle only to turn aroudn and call other people prudes for questioning the NOT the appropriateness of a sex joke, but guestioning the contradictory nature of your posts.

good.gif Exactly. It is the contradiction that is the issue.

Who is this conservative muslima with a conservative MENA husband living a modest lifestyle? Have we met her? Is she on this thread? Names, please!

I see a contradiction in saying "I don't judge others who do what I don't do, then judging people who talk about dildos when you wouldn't.

There is plenty of hypocrisy coming from those who are pointing fingers.

It sounded like the people holding a discussion after knowing that doodle wasn't feeling well were the lowlifes.

Since you said what class is in this thread I agree with you fully.

You don't have to explain yourself I just responded to your post but I should have added Jean's post in with it. This board is fully functional even if one member isn't feeling well. I would never expect the drama to stop just because I was upset.

Look who said "vagina" in public. One of the "classy" posters, I presume. No one who originally posted about sex toys has said a word about what they do with them. That information has come from those who claim they don't really want to talk about it.

Yeah, right . . .l

For women separated from their husbands, a dildo/vibrator discussion can be highly informative, imo. I'm one of those women, btw.

A turn on? im sure men the other day were thrilled to hear about what color panties everyone was wearing that wasnt in (General) that was specific what each was going to do

Day of the week panties. More TMI!

You harlot. You mentioned your underwear. Next you'll be saying that you wear a bra. wink.gif Or that you're naked under your clothes!

Stating the obvious is always controversial. If I'd read the "how to post on MENA" manual, I would have known that only certain people are allowed to breach certain subjects.
