The USCIS has recently posted a new version of the I-129F. This is the form you must use, all previous forms are no longer acceptable.

How do we get the VJ version changed?

what luck. i JUST sent this form out to my fiance today to sign his address in his native language.

Can you not e-mail it to him and get him to sign it and then fill it out after he sends it back? While he is at it, have him sign two or three copies in case you make a mistake .....

What has changed? It still has the stupid "Expires 12/31/06" date that causes all the silly questions.

Did you look? It now has an expiration of 01.31.2010....

Very strange! I switched computers from my PC to my MAC and Safari, and firefox on the Mac get the same old PDF.

You realy need to upload the form to VJ for us. Call me crazy but the link in the downloads section just points to the USCIS site, and I get the old form from there.

I had a problem at first, then I went to control panel and internet options deleted my files and cookies. I was then able to view the file on USCIS wesite. My question still remains, I filed last week will this affect my petition. especially since it is only availabel today and not last Thursday when my petition was sent?

They cannot ask you to file on a form last week that was not available until today...

I would imagine that if the noa1 date is before the expiration it shouldn't effect it. Does that make sense? or maybe I'm totally wrong.

FYI, the only change I noticed from the old form to the new was in part C the question regarding have you ever committed the following crimes... now has a yes/no box to check.

Ugh, this is unbelievable. I just sent my form last friday and I know they didn't have this new form up. No cookie problems or anything. But I don't have an NOA1 yet.. it just arrived in Nebraska and I know they send them off to California... Anyway, logic tells me that they can't ask me to have sent in a form that they didn't have up until today, but I'm definately not convinced that some of us won't be caused problems by this. And whats with the November date? Do they think we're morons or something?

I did that deleting and still get the old I-129F.

Ditto. I just hope the officers know of this mistake. By appearances it looks like this form has been around for two months, but they just made it available today :/ And it kinda makes me mad because there are several areas (I think) of the form and the instructions that they could have improved, but the only things they added were check yes or no boxes to whether the following crimes had been committed.

I guess theres nothing really we can do other than wait for some kind of response, but I really hope they take the old form if it was postmarked before January 18th

Ugh, thats horrid. My I-129F just went off 2 days ago, I guess we'll see what happens. I'd hate to get RFEs due to their delayed new forms being available.

We are both living in Thailand so we can't call the 1-800 number on the website to ask. We sent ours Monday and it was signed for on Wednesday, so this worries me. We are on a tight timeline since we have to be back for the start of fall semester. If anybody is in the US and has this problem and calls the 1-800 number, could you please post the USCIS answer they give?

Clear your cache, your browser is opening a previously viewed version, it does this to be faster delete your temporary internet files...Hope this helps

To all you recent 2007 filers,

I know you are all now sitting on pins and needles about this and I do not want to add to your worries, but filing on the wrong form does not necessarily generate an RFE, precedence would indicate that it can cause a complete file rejection. So everyone, stay on your toes about this. If you get an NOA1 I would think you can breathe a little easier. I would have thought that they would have allowed a short "safe harbor" period (particularly since the only apparent change is so insignificant) but the website does not indicate, so it is uncertain what the actual cut-off date is and what they will actually do. Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do except let things fall where they may. Good luck everyone

Well I called and spoke to one of the customer reps there, and they are sticking to their story about the form being available 11/24/06

So be prepared to possibly get quite a few packages returned.

Hmm, half an hour ago, I could go to www.usciv.gov and when I downloaded the I-129F forms, it was the new, 11/24/06 revision one. Now when I try, its back to the old one....its not a cache issue either, I just had the newer one on my screen....mind boggling.

Heh, and now the new form is back, and the information on uscis.gov is updated. Frustrating to say the least, knowing a few of us are gonna have returned packages soon all because of the timing of the new I-129F form.

I wrote an email to the USCIS to inform them of this problem with the I-129F. I don't know if they actually read their email or whether they will care , but I suggest at least several of us do the same, or call if you can. Maybe they will notice eventually. Here is what I wrote:

Will we be effected by this sudden, undocumented change? If so it seems a bit unfair that many people will have their petitions denied because of this problem on the USCIS's side. Please look into this matter and extend the grace period for the usage of the 05/23/06 version.

Also there is one page (the intro page that you get to when you click on the link for the I-129F in the list of immigration forms) of the website that still says to use version 05/23/06.

Some 'older' VJers may have to correct me here, but I thought I remembered a time when one of the forms had changed, and USCIS had bungled it up and had about 3 different versions floating around out there. I thought I remembered them issuing a statement saying that ALL versions of that form would be accepted until a certain date.

Or maybe I'm smoking something. (Don't answer that, fwaguy!

I keep getting the old form too.

This is so weird. I was getting the correct form before... but now I am getting the may version again. On both mine and my boyfriends computer.... Something fishy is going on at the USCIS! Or with my cookies? *so confused*

So, I can't access the new form. If people would like to, clear your browser's cache before downloading anything. I did this and I get the old form. I called USCIS (not that this matters, as I don't know how well you can trust their call centers), and they have no knowledge of a new form. They said as long as it is from the website, it would be okay. I worry because I sent mine out yesterday, and it arrived there today.

I am thinking that one of three things happened:

1. The new form was released early and so they pulled it back to give some notice.
2. There was a mistake on the new form.
3. They're having web server problems and it isn't showing up in all regions (some mirrors aren't synchronized).

Anyone still getting the new form with an empty cache?

As a note, the Federal Register was taking comments on a proposed I-129F change up until Dec 28th starting on Nov 28th:

Very odd. I think someone needs to email them. THis is clearly a disrepency and should be resolved. Because of this they shoudl accept both forms up until the error is fixed (if they really will is another issue).

I had been getting the new version of the form last night, but now I'm getting the old version, even when I clear out my cache. And yes that one page consistantly has said to use the may version while the form list recently started saying to use the november version. I'm hoping this is just a case of a confused webmaster and that they won't start denying petitions for this mistake. I emailed the webmaster about the november version.

Please do the same. I wish they would post some kind of statement about this confusion, but I guess I won't count on it.

Humm...nice way to start the weekend wondering if your package you didn't sleep for 3 days to put together got rejected because of a yes checkbox

Anyway, if they reject the application because of the form date, do they at least send back the original package to you? I'd hate to think I have to ask my fiance to UPS me another G325A because HK to U.S. UPS is expensive. I don't want to use another set of my photo prints either (I was hoping nothing would go wrong so I could give one to family).

I do see the November form listed on the forms page, but I see the May form when I click the link. Hopefully someone gets a response soon that makes sense from USCIS

Can someone email me the new form? I'm having the same problem as everyone else. My email is jiujitsu562@hotmail.com This sucks, I have everything ready to go out today. Now this is terrible!

While they are at it they may want to ask why I-134 is not listed on the forms page also. USCIS site has been screwed up bad since November when they changed it from the old site to this so called "New and Improved" one.

Also still cannot find the newer form even using a computer at work that has never been used to access the USCIS site. So something very odd is happening with their site.

I called the USCIS 800# earlier today, I was told that if a petition was already sent before this new form became availabe, that they wouold honor the form. I am concerned becaus, I filed my petition on Jan 11th and have yet to receive a NOA1 or any other reccognition that my form is being processed. I was told; if no receipt or e--mail was sent after 15 days to call back. At that point a form to resend NOA1 and or receipot would be submitted.

The problem with that is some people that filed after me have received their NOA1 and this makes me worryv .

Hopefully they will do the right thing and honeor the previoulsy filed petitions .


Waiting in Limbo

Someone please help me???!! I'm stressed out! If it is my fault i receive an RFE I can handle that, but an RFE because of their dumb website that doesn't work...I wont be a happy camper. GRRRR

I don't know if this is posted elsewhere, but even on the forms list page, I see they are back to 5/23/06 on the USCIS page. Either the form had a problem, or I would guess they decided that suddenly changing the form is bad - instead giving people a period where both are accepted and a cut off date is probably a better approach to changing a form (unless there's something seriously wrong with a currently accepted form). Anyway, it is good to see that they are as of now accepting the form from 5/23/06 so no need to worry I hope!
