Hi All,
Can someone tell me how many days before the interview date should my fiance come out to Saigon for the medical exams and all the other things she should do out there? I am thinking 1 week. What do you guys think? Thanks.

My wife is freaking out over the prospect of only giving her a week, although she cannot give a good reason why. She thinks your fiance should actually fly to HCM immediately upon getting pack 4 and then fly back for the interview. Explaining to her that this might not be practical, she says at least 2 weeks so that you can get be assured of getting the results back in time.

From others that have gone through this, it seems that 10 days was the norm. Now I told my Vo to fly to HCMC 2 weeks before interview date just to make sure.

Really? 2 weeks? I was thinking it would take a day or two. A long day or two, but still only that. Damn, I already booked for one week before.

Medical exam need only 2 days for normal cases.
The first day you go early (7:30) to take vacination. It takes you one hour. thenk you can bring the yellow sheet to medical exam at IOM or choray hospital after vacination. It takes another hour. The result of medial exam will handle to you at 4pm next day.

By the way, the medical exam take xray for lung and blood test for HIV and syphilis and the other normal check. If they doubt on xray, they will request the other tests and need more time and money.

My wife lived in Hanoi and we were worried about the same thing. Her interview was scheduled for a Monday, so we decided that she should fly to Saigon 12 days before the interview. She arrived late Wednesday night, and had her medical done on that Friday, which would make the Friday before her interview one week. From what I recall she picked up the results on Tuesday or Wednesday. So it really only took 2 or 3 days to get the results. I think it would give you peace of mind to provide at least 1 week as they suggest.

Good Luck!!!!

My Wifes medical took three days in Delhi to get the report. She had it on a Saturday, and got the report on Tuesday evening. (Medical office is closed on Sunday).

I agree. It's really fast. My wife got her vaccinations on Friday afternoon (it took about 30 minutes). Then, Monday morning we went to IOM - and got the results 4PM the next day.

Thanks for all the inputs...i think I'll have her come in the 3rd or 4th of Feb since her interview is Feb 12. I think that should be more than enough time but I have a feeling she will come in 2 weeks in advance just to be safe.

Why not just make her go there now and not worry if there will be enough time?
