I'm planning to bring my fiancee here on a K1 visa to marry her. I'm trying to predict how long after she arrives here on the visa and marries me that it will take for her to become eligible to legally work here? Does anyone have a good idea of how long this process usually will take? After I have a good idea of the length of time this will take I can plan how much savings I need to prepare in advance in order to care for her until she can find work.

Can take up to 90 days to get EAD.

Technically, she is eligible to work until her I-94 expires - 90 days after arrival. The catch is finding someone who will hire her for the short period of time with her status as is. After that, she will need to apply for AOS and green card.

Yu and Dan is right. However, its quite possible that it can take more than 90 days, so you need to be prepared for more than that.

Read around the AOS forum to get a feel for timelines once you all have filed.

If it takes more than 90 days you are within your rights to schedule an Info pass appointment and request a temporary EAD.
