My fiance is from Nicaragua, he is worried that since Daniel Ortega was elected president and there is a possiblity that Nicaragua could go back to communism that the US will stop approving visas. I told him don't really see that happening anytime soon but I guess I'm just looking for a little reasurance. unsure.gif What's the general feeling on this subject? Thanks

People from Cuba get visas.

'Nuff said, right?

The politcal situation is related more to the granting of student and tourist and other nonimmigrant visas.

I would not worry about it... because as said people from Cuba get visas, which of course is a different situation but still somewhat similar. As you can tell my fiancé is Cuban and we are going for it. I have heard of plenty of people getting visas as well. Oh and just a side note... what part of Nicaragua is Mauricio from? I was there all of 2005 living on Isla Ometepe but also traveling throughout the country.

I understand wanting to be reasurred if you ever read my posts you would see that I asked all the most basic questions just to hear it again from someone else. Isn't La Reserva Cocoyero just outside of Ticuantepe? I remember seeing the sings for Ticuantepe every time I traveled on the road to or from Managua. What a lovely place... what a lovely country actually. Best of luck with your journey and God bless!
