Full Version: Need Reasurance

My fiance is from Nicaragua, he is worried that since Daniel Ortega was elected president and there is a possiblity that Nicaragua could go back to communism that the US will stop approving visas. I told him don't really see that happening anytime soon but I guess I'm just looking for a little reasurance. What's the general feeling on this subject? Thanks

The politcal situation is related more to the granting of student and tourist and other nonimmigrant visas.

I would not worry about it... because as said people from Cuba get visas, which of course is a different situation but still somewhat similar. As you can tell my fiancé is Cuban and we are going for it. I have heard of plenty of people getting visas as well. Oh and just a side note... what part of Nicaragua is Mauricio from? I was there all of 2005 living on Isla Ometepe but also traveling throughout the country.

He lives in Ticuantepe it's about 10 minutes outside Managua.

I understand wanting to be reasurred if you ever read my posts you would see that I asked all the most basic questions just to hear it again from someone else. Isn't La Reserva Cocoyero just outside of Ticuantepe? I remember seeing the sings for Ticuantepe every time I traveled on the road to or from Managua.
