Maybe this is a dumb question . . . . . . . My fiance is from Nigeria and I would LOVE to go to Nigeria some day, but with the costs of obtaining the K-1 visa, I'm not sure I can afford to travel to Nigeria before my fiance and I can get married. I've read some of the other postings and it looks like some people traveled to Nigeria multiple times. My question is this - Do I need to go to Nigeria before the visa interview? Should I be there during the interview process? I appreciate any information you can give me.

You won't need to go there for the interview, but must have met in person within the last 2 years. That is according to the K-1 visa guide on this site.

Thank you so much for your comments!!! We are planning on meeting in Canada soon. I noticed that you are from Utah and your SO is from Nigeria. I'm from Utah as well . I noticed that the Embassy in Nigeria requested more proof. Would you mind telling me what it was they wanted more of?? I'm hoping that things all go well the first try and we don't have delays.
