Hi. My wife will be entering the US on a CR1. I havent (and dont know anything) about the process once we enter the US. My wife wants to work as soon as she possibly can. What is it we have to do right away so she can work a normal job? And how long does that take?

Thanks smile.gif

Your endorsed CR-1 visa is evidence of your permanent resident status. SHe is authorized to be employed upon her admission to the US. SHowing the endorsed visa, the green card that you should get in about a month after admission, or her GC which she should get about a month after admission are good enough to prove her eligibility for employment...

Is there any paperwork we need to complete for that? Or is the green card something that will just arrive in the mail to the residence I have been using on all my paperwork to that time?

*If anyone can post a link to a guide for us on CR1 (how to get SSN, Drivers License etc) that would be great. I did not see anything for CR1 holders, just non immigrant visas. Thanks smile.gif

The officer at the POE will complete the paperwork to order your GC... all they need is a current address to send it to...

Did you check the box on the DS-230 to automatically order a SSN... if not, you'll have to go to the SSA to get one... search for posts from user "I Quit" for more information... Also if it is more than a month from your entry and you did not get your SSN, go to the SSA and inquire about it...

About the DL.. go to your state DMV for more info... each state is different...
