Hi everyone. I haven't posted here in ages.
I got my green card almost 2 years ago and it expires on the 28th of this month. I sent in my application on Nov. 17 and the check was cashed on the 24th but I never recieved an NOA. I called the info line and they confirmed that it had been recieved and a letter should have been sent out but as I said, I never got one.
Anyway, they said I had to make an Info pass appt. with my district office, which I did for this Weds coming up and that they would send out another NOA.
I was wondering if this has happened to anybody else and if you had any problems getting an extention for your authorization to work and travel from the district office?
I have a job I love and plans to go to Canada twice in Feb and don't want to lose either one.
Thanks for any input in advance.
Oh ya, I sent it to NSC.

I am in a similar situation. My wifes greencard expired 12/23. I got the I-751 file 12/22. So right now her GC is expired. My did receive a G-711 which basically is a ticket that shows that they accepted my payment. It has a receipt # on it.
Now, as long as you are being processed for I-751, you are free to work and travel. Problem is proving that without an NOA. My lawyer made my wife stop working from 12/22, until we received the initial receipt on 1/4. She said that although this is not an NOA, it is proof that the USCIS has accepted our case and that she is being processed. She said that this is proof enough to work, but that under no circumstances should we risk travel.
Moral of the story?
1. Do no file your papers at the last minute like us, even if it is not your fault (like us).
2. As long as you are in process, you are legal to work even without the NOA if your GC is expired. The tricky part is proving it.
More then likely your employer will not know about your GC expiring, so you should be fine as long as you do not switch companies.
It can't hurt to talk to a lawyer, like I did. We had a lawyer do our initial GC application and all that. Cost s $2500. They were supposedto take care of the I-751 when the time came, but they did not. So when I realized a few days before her GC expired, I tossed a packet together myself, sent it out, and immidiatly consulted a reputable lawyer who helped clear things up.
