Full Version: Does the notary stamp and sign at the signature line?

Sorry if this is a quick, dumb or obvious question, but for the life of me I couldn't see any instructions on where the notary was supposed to stamp and sign. Today I had it done and the notary stamped and signed right near the signature.

Is this adequate or am I missing something...

I am refering to the I-864.

As long as its on the same page, anywhere near your signature its fine. Some forms that require a notary don't even provide enough space for the stamp.

The I-864 no longer needs to be notarized.

It's true - the old form needed to be notarized, but the new form doesn't smile.gif

You don't need to notarize I-864.

There is no place for a notary signature, nor do the instructions indicate that a notary is required.
