Hello guys!

We just recently had our I-129F approved. According to NVC, our case was sent to Kyiv Embassy. Could you please help me finding the Embassy's e-mail address so I can contact them to find out if the case was received. I tried to search the thread, but did not find anything.

Thanks in advance to everyone! star_smile.gif

Go to the embassy website for US embassy in Kiev and find the email for it then write them, they will answer you rather quickly, more so than trying to call them on phone. good.gif

Sorry to hear all that, Delta like all other airlines now, is the pits! It is a industry wide thing now, delays and always because of weather. Luggage lost or delayed or damaged or destroyed in transit or what happens to you, and then they want to surcharge you for it all! How much worse can it all get! wacko.gif

QUOTE(Mariya @ Sep 9 2008, 06:04 AM) *
Delta did not upgrade me though I asked - they just apologized for the inconvenieces and said they will pay me $ 125 expense reimbursement when I mail them my receipts.

My bags were travelling all around Eurpe for 12 days. I saw Milano airport, Budapest airport labels...
Tough my itinerary was:
Nashville-JFK-Kiev

zqt3344
No problem, just remember there is a 8-10 hour time difference depending on where you live in USA so plan on getting email replied to during their hours of like 9am to 3 pm sometimes someone there will email hour or two before or after those times, but not often. good.gif

NYC Tiger, If you write to the embassy make sure you include your fiancee's name and the case number from NVC in your email. They prefer to answer to specific cases. It can take as long as a week for them to respond so don't be too concerned if it takes a couple of days. Also, keep in mind the embassy closes for normal business on both American and Ukrainian holidays.

Best of luck with your remaining tasks until she arrives. We just finished getting my wife's permanent green card (the 10 year one). It was approved yesterday, September 16th.

Thank you 1HappyGuy! star_smile.gif Firs of all congratulations on getting your wife's green card! One more step for you - citizenship. good.gifstar_smile.gif
I sent e-mail to the embassy a couple of days ago, just like you say - with case number and my fiance's (my fiance is HE, not SHE biggrin.gif ) name included. Still waiting for them to respond. I am still being patient. OK, not very patient. headbonk.gif
I wonder: between American and Ukrainian holidays - what's left? laughing.gif

Thanks again and best wishes to you and your wife! star_smile.gif And maybe I will ask you a few more questions down the road. OK? blush.gif

Hi All! I have a question! My husband has his CR1 interview on Oct, 29. We are trying to hunt for a ticket for him now. It is our intention that he gets on a plane as soon as he gets his visa. Every day is counted. So at your experience how long (statistically speaking ) it takes to get passport with visa after interview? What postal service they are using to send it? Will they provide tracking number , so we can track the package?

7+/- days seems normal... a day quicker if delivery is in Kiev. I keep hearing FedX but I do not know for sure.

It is indeed FedEx.
Olya2007
Thanks for answers! This is what I also thought, was just hoping that it got faster recently wink.gif .
Will try to buy tickets in a week from interview day and hope for the best... I think it would be impossible or very expensive to buy tickets for the next day if we wait for visa to arrive first ?
1HappyGuy
When my wife obtained her visa, it took five days for them to issued it after the inteview. She lived in Kyiv so she was able to pick it up at the FedEx office. I would give more than 7 days just to be safe. Remember, if there are any holidays either US or Ukrainian, these will delay processing.

We all know the heartache of separation, but waiting a couple of more days is not really that much more. Especially if you have to pay for a change.

We just received our approval for K-1 I-129F on Sep. 26 and looks like it left NVC on the 30th (Oct. 1 by my DHL tracking attempts). So, should reach Kiev any day now. Anybody can advice how soon should we contact the embassy to find out if it's in the system yet? And what is the best way to contact them? Is there a general number to call or should we use the pin option? Thanks for sharing the wisdom! star_smile.gif

It can take the consulate a couple weeks to log the file... e-mail them at kyiviv@state.gov and and ask them when it is logged they will advise

Make sure to include the new case number from NVC so that they can identify your case. Congratulations. You are almost finished the first big step.

Your time line is similar to the one my wife had three years ago. You should be celebrating the holiday season in America.

Welcome!

Looks like I'm back with yet another question. Apparently, new medical requirements call for a TB skin test. Does anybody know if they do it in Kiev? (I just assumed no, since results of the medical are given out the same day). Thus, my question. If I go to my local clinic and have a TB skin test and take the results to the clinic in Kiev do you think they will include it on my I-693? Anybody did that before?

I really do not know the answer other than I am certain it will not be on the I-693 since the medical clinic in Kiev does not preapre that form. The foreign medical is prepared on the DS-2053 for the exam results & DS3025 for the vaccinations. smile.gif

I know that a TB test was required for my wife when she applied for adjustment of status, but I haven't heard about a TB test before your interview at the embassy. Have you looked into the requirements from the U.S. embassy website or is this where you saw/heard the new requirement?

TB test requirement is explained on USCIS website, as well as in the instruction manual for the civil surgeons. The thing with Kiev embassy is that they are not very up to date with changing medical info. I just re-downloaded the info packet and they still list old vaccination requirements. I guess I'll talk to the clinic when booking my medical and see what they advice. Worst thing that can happen, we'll have one extra thing to take care of before filing AOS.

Thanks for the input guys!
1HappyGuy
I just checked the state department website and didn't see TB listed as a required vaccination. Here is a link to their site that might help you. I still think the TB test is after you arrive, get married and apply for adjustment of status to permanent resident.

I hope this helps: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_1331.html

Oh, I know it is not needed for the embassy. I just thought if I'll cover all AOS requirements for tests/vaccinations in Ukraine we'll have less stuff to worry about after the wedding. I know, I'm a bit of an overplanner smile.gif

Hello everyone - couple of hopefully easy last minute questions before Interview.

First - some encouraging news for anyone getting ready to schedule interview.
We were finally able to schedule our interview on Wednesday (Oct 22) - and got an Interview Date of November 7 - just 2 weeks and 2 days out!!
(6 months and 1 day from submission of petition - not too bad I guess..)

Okay, questions.

1. Stupid question here - but just to confirm - the interview is held at the 'Consular section of the embassy, yes?
Consular Section
U.S. Embassy to Ukraine
vul. Mykoly Pymonenka 6
Kyiv 01901 Ukraine.

2. Has anyone been required to show the original petition, or an updated 'Letter of Intent to marry' or a copy of the 'NOA2' at the interview?
(I've seen somewhere that suggests bringing these things to the interview.)

3. I asked this question before awhile back, but I am still freaking out about it.
-The spelling of my Fiancee's name on her petition is different than her international passport
(I used the petition spelling when scheduling her interview as well.)
Petition/interview = Natalia Udovichenko
Passport = Nataliia Udovychenko

-I was told that I shouldn't worry about it, but I am still worrying - would they maybe be stupid and not even let her in, since they will check
her passport against who is scheduled for interviews for the day??
- should I call and change the spelling I gave when scheduling the interview - or is too late for this?
(I emailed the embassy and asked if this might cause any problems, but have not heard back yet.)
For her DS156 - if I have her fill out in English, I will spell her name to match the passport, or I will probably have her fill out in Ukrainian
(any opinions here??)

4. Arriving in USA for first time - Port of Entry
-Probably another stupid question - but, do we need to enter USA via a specific Airport (like JFK) - or will whatever airport we enter via serve
as her Port Of Entry? (I live in Minnesota, and we would be coming in via the Minneapolis/St. Paul internation airport if it is okay)
(our flight would probably be Kiev to Amesterdam to Minneapolis)
Also - (I am assuming 'No'), but if we had an overnight in Amsterdam, would she be able to leave the airport, and go out into the city?

That's it - thanks much for any help - This has been an incredibly long journey, good luck to everyone out there, I don't post here alot, but I do read all the posts.

Oh, another note that might help others - her petition seemed to be taking forever to get entered at the embassy - it was sent from NVC on Oct 6th, and it still wasn't entered as of Friday, Oct 17th - so I sent an email to the embassy on Sunday, the 19th (saying that I was concerned...yada, yada.) - and I received a reply on Tuesday, saying that 'be assured that her information would be entered within 2 days, and that I could schedule her interview in 2 days.) - So did they go out of the way to enter it, or would it have been entered anyway - I don't know - but this could help someone else in future.

-Payxibka (FWAGuy) - hopefully we can all get together for a drink after Natalia arrives??

Thank again!!
Sean (and Natalia)
payxibka
1) Yes

2) No

3) No worry they understand the transliteration differences between Russian and Ukrainian

4) All Ukrainians are required to enter via Anchorage.. laughing.gif Actually, any POE can be used and it does not need to be pre-determined... MSP will be just fine

3 weeks from NVC is about typical to get into the Consulate system

Beers will be great idea..... Sveta will however have to drink non-alchoholic beverage
1HappyGuy
You probably won't even cause any confusion if you refer to her as Natasha. There are a number of people, my wife included that had problems with names and spelling. We had to get my wife a new passport before she left because hers was due to expire. Her last name translated to English changed dramatically when the conversion was from Russian to Ukrainian on the new passport. There were two y's that changed to i's and her name changed from Elena to Olena. We were just starting the paperwork so it didn't hurt us, but you shouldn't have much of a problem. The visa is issued in her passport and that's the name she will need upon arrival.

Flying into Minneapolis should be fine. There are lots of POE's that people enter. Some are better than others, but all know what to do.

JKMac
My fiancee got a new passport in May (we filed in March). Viktoriya became Viktoriia and her last name changed too. I e-mailed and faxed the embassy with the changes. We were all worried about this at the interview and it turned out to be a non-issue.

SeanAndNatalia
Thanks much for the quick responses to my questions.

'payxibka' - I am assuming a 'Congratulations' is in order - my brilliant detective abilities deduces that Sveta is pregnant?

Jkmac - I see you are in Janesville - I have been through that town dozens of times. - My uncles lives outside of Chicago (St. Charles), so I head there quite often, and an old girl-friend of mine lived in Crystal Lake, IL, and so I always took the 14 shortcut via the Janesville exit - and always stopped for food and gas there.

Cheers..
Sean
