hi everyone. im new to the site and want to make sure i do everything correct so i can get my fiance here as fast as possible!

he will be interviewing eventually in casablanca. (thats where he lives)

here's the problem....i don't have a lot of things saved during our relationship because i never knew i was going to marry him, what was needed to file a k-1 visa, etc.

to prove our relationship i have:

mobile phone bills showing i call him and text him.
emails in french (do they need to be translated to english? or do i not even need these? should these be saved for him to bring to his interview and kept in french?)
stamps on my passport from my visits to morocco
tons of photos of us together.
i might have my last ticket receipt from my trip to morocco...

but thats it! is this enough? and does he need copies of all these things to bring to his interview?

You haven;t said if you have filed with USCIS yet. For the original petition all you have to prove is that you have met in the last 2 years and meet the other requirements of the fiance visa (like US citizenship etc). You will have some time between now and the interview to continue to collect evidence of an on-going relationship. soounds you you have a good start.

For my fiance's interview, I could only get phone records from April to Dec. I had changed service and many of our calls were also using phone cards, so we have talked much more than the phone bills show. I also sent a list of all emails to and from and then selected only about 5-6 e-mails (from throughout the year's time to send with that list of all emails.

Yes, it sounds to me like you have enough evidence. Keep holding onto whatever you have. I think photos are definetely the best thing to have to prove your relationship. You don't need to translate the e-mails into English, we had quite a few that were in French and the consulars speak French, Arabic and English for the most part. thank you! i haven't filed yet.... i misplaced my birthcertificate AND my passport expires in 6 months so i had to apply for both...... now i wait for approximately 6 weeks before they arrive. in the meantime i want to put together every other detail so i can just send it off the minute they get here. i also want to help prepare my fiance get his details together in casablanca so that he will be ready also. any more advice on what my fiance can do in morocco to speed things up since i have such a time to wait for my certificates?

Are you filing through CSC or VSC? It will take some time for your petition to get through in California and all the papers your fiance will need have to be less than 3 months old (even his birth certificate) for the interview. so best he just waits on the papers- he will need several documents and most are very easy to get. He will have plenty of time once you get the NOA2. The interview is likely to be about 6 weeks after USCIS approves your peition.

ETA: I just noticed you are in NY? So you will go through VSC and could have your NOA2 in less than a month. There is no guarentee thought and I would hate to have your fiance gather the papers , pay for the translations and then have to get new ones because they are older than 3 months.

yes i am from california but currently live in new york. i was considering moving back to california in the process but hearing how much faster it seems to get him here if i stay..... ill stay. i have a good job here and we can always move later, right? thats a question i forgot to ask...........................

if i apply here in NY ...once he arrives can we move to another state?

Oh I would definately take advantage of filing in Vermont. Check the timelines on the VJ search function. And yes moving is not a problem, you woul djust let USCIS know this. It's not even necessary to stay until he arrives, but if you can I would say do it.

if the process time is what i keep hearing it is (about six months) i can definitely wait here until he arrives. i was just hoping we weren't stuck here if i wanted to move back to california. i'd like to show him both places and get his opinion of where he likes better (they are like different countries almost!)

I snet my petition late August and the interview is next week so less than 5 months total. How much longer will depend on the AP processing after the nterview. For some that's only a couple of weeks for others its months. Going through Vermont for filing you should be able to shave at least 2 months off my timeline. BUT just remember each case is different and the unkown factor is huge!

You will want to use your current passport for your peition since that is the one that has the stamps in it to prove your entry into Morocco. Be sure to copy all of the pages, even blank ones, and not just the pages with the morocco stamps. You will want to have your fiance send you a copy of HIS birth cert with translation to have on hand. While it was not on the list of required docs to send with the peition, several VJ members received a request for info for not sending it. That adds about a month to your processing time. Good luck.

Yup, it's pretty much a crap shoot. Our process through Casa from filing to visa in hand was about 5 months, and that was through VSC. We got held up at the consulate waiting for an interview date. Snags can occur at any point in the process, unfortunately.

I would say stay where you are - Vermont seems to be the fastest processing center. When we applied it was through Nebraska and our petition took close to 8 months from start to finish. However we were blessed in that my husband was given his visa the day after his interview. It could have been much longer if he were put on AP/AR. As far as moving is concerned you are free to move within the US at any point. My husband would have loved to live in New York and I would love to live in Northern CA, unfortunately he's stuck here in Wisconsin for a little while longer

wow thanks for the good advice. i did copy all the pages of my passport before i sent it out to be renewed. i should send all the pages in with my 129-f?

You do not need to send all pages of your passport in IF you are using the birthcertificate to prove your US citizenship. If your BC is submitted, then you can send in the pages with the entry/exit stamps as proof you have met in the last two years
