I called USCIS today regarding my EAD since it has been over 90 days, the girl I spoke to was also very nice and said that she would send an inquiry on my behalf to MSC, she took all the details like name, address, receipt number, phone number etc. She also gave me a reference number of the inquiry she sent and said that i should hear within 45 days (i know its ridiculous for an EAD that has already been waiting for 90+ days).

She then spoke to one of her managers to check if I could get an interim EAD. They said it depends on the local office if they are still issuing them because most are not. She checked Charlotte, NC and it was bad news. But she was so nice she went back to her manager and explained that I really needed my EAD as I have a job waiting on me so the manager advised me to go ahead and schedule an infopass appointment and explain to them my problem and if they don't issue me an interim EAD they will definitely push Missouri to either approve the EAD asap or send an interim one (according to them, Missouri now issues interim EADs)...so thats the next step for me.

Hence any of you who have reached the 90 day deadline for EAD, do NOT wait and call the USCIS and pester them...it might work.

Thanks for sharing that information! We've been wondering if they were still giving any interim EADs, nice to know it's a possibility.

I have just spoken to USCIS to check the progress of my EAD. They said they had just finished processing my fingerprints (taken 2 months ago) and that I should here something in 30 days. It has been 72 days so far. Does anyone know how long it takes once they have processed the fingerprints? I know the immigration officer told me 30 days, and he was nice and very helpful, but I am just not convinced they know and are just giving the company line.

30 more days would not be a disaster but i was kinda hoping for a speedier resolution. Fingers crossed.

It's a bit like asking "how long is a piece of string?" It just depends on who processes them, when Missouri (NBC) received them or whether they lose them or not (as they did in my son's case).

You are supposed to allow 90 days, before you can officially start making inquiries as to where your EAD is and why you haven't received it. But in some cases it takes a LOT longer, some are done quicker. There doesn't seem to be a lot of rhyme or reason to any of it. Let's just hope you don't have to wait much longer.

Oh, you can get an interim EAD if your EAD hasn't been approved yet, but if it has been approved and you just haven't received it, then you have a problem. This was the case with my son's - APPROVED, but no proof he was authorised to work in the US - how helpful!

Good Luck - Fingers-crossed you'll get yours soon.
