Hello all,

I am not engaged or planning on getting married anytime soon but my boyfriend lives in North Carolina and we do plan to eventually be together. I found this site via a Google search and am so glad I did! I have been lurking for the past day and have learned so much, I did not think it would be such a complicated process!! I figure it is better to be prepared and ready than to be clueless when the time comes, so here I am. Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions down the road. I look forward to learning from all of you!

Welcome! It is great you are learning the process before hand. When me and my husband got married, we had no idea what the Immigration process was like. We are still learning smile.gif

Welcome, you're on the best site for information as well as finding other friends going through the same process. good.gif When we got to the interview, the VO only asked three questions and gave her a visa, and that was her first trip to the consulate. yes.gif I attribute that success largely to the information found on this site, the directions are phenominal and if you'll follow them you should have success too. Of course there are a few varables and because of that nothing can guarantee anyone will get a visa. huh.gif But just having directions to follow is a huge help. So welcome and best wishes through the process. smile.gif

It's good to be completely prepared for the process before you are actually ready to do it.

Read all the Guides and FAQ here on VJ for all the information you will need to get started when the time comes.

Welcome to VJ.

Hey! Welcome bean! I'm from London, Ontario actually .. and will be moving to Utah come April (providing I have my US consulate interview in Montreal by then). Yes I have found this site extremely useful smile.gif The key message here is that you are NOT alone in the immigration process.

Good luck with everthing! One word of advice is .. start a portfolio with evidence that you and your BF know each other and have met. If you do eventually decide to file for a fiance visa ... you'll have to provide proof that you do indeed know each other and have met. This would include things like plane tickets, photos, hotel receipts (my FI and I met at a work conference .. so getting the hotel to print out both our receipts showing that we were both there .. was a great help), etc.

and yes ... I echo whoever mentioned the FAQ part of this site.

Hi Bean,

Welcome to VJ! Good luck on your immigration journey! I agree, immigration is a complicated process, so it it best to be well informed beforehand (I wish I had found this site earlier!). Feel free to post any questions, answers, comments, etc. on the site. I hope you will learn a lot from this site too, and likewise I am learning from you and other VJers too. And yes, be warned "VJ can be addicting".....
