Tell me about it! I don't know who these people think they are putting up firewalls and all that nonsense.

I love clementines.

There...I said it. I really do. No seeds, wicked sweet and really really good if they've been in the fridge for a while.

Oh...and they're so easy and fun to peel too!!! good.gif

moody
My friend here at work LOVES them too. She buys a box of them like every week or so. I admit that I do swipe one from her now and then.

rahma
The last batch of clementines we bought sucked big time. Rrrr.
melly
I've never actually had a clementine. Aren't they just very sweet mini oranges??

Seems like there is a rapist loose in my neighborhood. To make matters more creepy, the latest victim, a 13 year old girl walking to school, was raped at 7 am in the morning on Hyacinth Ave on Monday. 7 am is the exact time my bus passes by Hyacinth Ave. I'm out waiting for the bus at 6:50. Damn. I'm going to need to get some brass knuckles or something. I usually thread my keys through my fingers when I get off the bus at night, but I didn't think the morning was dangerous. No more before work runs for me. Damn.

Damn damn damn. Evil people suck.
moody
Yeah, I think they're closer to tangerines.
noura
I like satsumas - similar to clementines but a little larger... but I can go outside my office almost anytime and pick them from the tree as needed! Now sounds like a good time for one! good.gif

rhama, are stun guns legal where you live? if so, get one.

My husband has offered to be my bodyguard and escort me to the bus stop in the morning and meet me in the evening. He even offered to come to the grocery store tonight as my bodyguard star_smile.gif He's a sweety.

I hope the local Y starts offering a self defense class.
MHandMB
Rahma, that is so scary! I would definitely check in to getting some pepper spray and boning up on your self defense moves. And, just be alert to everyone around you. I've heard that The Gift of Fear by Gavin DeBecker is a really good book to read that teaches you a lot about your own internal insticts for when something is wrong, and how to learn to trust those instincts
moody
laughing.gif Damn that's hot! Nessa's a lucky gal. But does she know you're posting such risque photos on VJ?

i watched it somewhere between horrified (I have a special place in my heart for these donkeys) and laughing so hard. I was so afraid the donkey was going to come crashing down to the ground and not land softly like a cartoon character! Whew! laughing.gif

One of the interesting things I found about Morocco is how throughout the country it is an insult to tell someone to work like a donkey EXCEPT in Fez where it is seen as a compliment. My fiance thinks my affection for donkeys is too funny (he is not from Fez obviously tongue.gif ) and even funnier when I try to explain my affection for this beast of burden. which if I tried to do it here you would all side with him and laugh at me too I'm sure- except for maybe peezy wink.gif

Thanks everyone for your well wishes! Let's hope and pray this bastard is caught soon. If it is a serial rapist, he doesn't seem to prefer one type of woman - the New Years rape was of a 57 year old and this monday's was of a 13 year old.

Oh, it certainly would not be a compliment with my in-laws from Fes. I have similar feelings for donkeys, and when we went to the medina one day, my FIL was shoving a donkey (way overloaded with crates of coke) out of the way and I started protesting. Later, at home, I expressed how I couldn't understand why donkeys were not respected with how hard they work. It has turned into a long running joke and my FIL will still tease me about it when he calls.

Last night Usama got scared 'cause a friend of his told him that he applied for a visa and got approved by the embassy but then the ministry of foreign affairs said he can't go because he didn't complete 4 years of university. Usama only completed 2 years so he was freakin' all day. I asked if this guy was married to a US Citizen and he said no.

Oh these a$$holes make me crazy. Khallid would here the exact same thing on a daily basis. Finally he just had to tell himself that these men were trying to make him worry because they were jealous. Tell Usama to tell them to kiss his teasik. laughing.gif
Bosco
Rahma bringing up the rapist made me think about the honor killings.... rape victims are often ostracized in the MENA. I remember once talking to a Moroccan who told me his aunt had been raped and he said "and she is still part of our family" blink.gif as if that was some noble thing. Not that I think discussing what would happen in the event you were raped is a typical discussion, but I do wonder how a MENA man (and his family) would handle something like this. I think it is hard enough for a man coming from a society where we try to avoid further victimizing the victim.

That's one of the goofiest things I've ever seen and how they can guarantee hygiene is beyond me. It seems to me that people will end up doing all sorts of things to those that seem very unhygenic.
Goodness gracious, just put a couple of more sinks in. tongue.gif

duh

I said, honey...even if you never went to University and took the short bus to the interview you wouldn't be denied due to that because you're married to a US Citizen and as long as you're not some bigtime criminal or have some huge disease you'll be fine.

I hope he doesn't talk to anyone else since this is gonna be a loooong hall.

Try to keep him from the others. That is what is driving me nuts with my fiance right now. Like Moody said, everyone is an expert on visas, especially those that do not have one!! laughing.gif

We've discussed it in the past, and woe be to any man who lays a hand on me, because my husband will track him down and kill him. Literally.

Tamer sounds just like Youssef. If something ever happened to me or the kids he would kill the person no doubt. Stay safe and we have to plan to get together again! I think we will have to come to MSP before Youssef goes home to visit because they forgot to take his I-94 out of his passport when his GC was approved. Maybe then?
