As posted before, they messed up my husband's social security# by typing the wrong address (which he didn't see until he came home).

Ok, he went back today for the 3rd time. He told them he hasn't received the card in the mail. The woman was so rude to him he got upset and asked for a supervisor (this is something I would do, but not him usually, so it had to be bad).

The supervisor told him "come back with your I-94 and not until 30 days from your last visit". He tried to say he is CR-1, there is no I-94. They refused to listen to him. They also put the blaim on him that the address was Typo'd (by them).

He came home so angry and fed up!! Poor guy. sad.gif

I have no idea what to do - three visits to this office and a phone call to 800# and they won't help him. Should we just try another office? How can we help them do their job when they don't even know he wouldn't have an I-94 as a CR-1?

I'm so sorry to hear that he has been going thru this!! My Social Security experience was so smooth...I went there, applied for it with my passport and got it a week later! The day I went the system was down, but she collected all my paperwork and knew that since I was a CR1 I should be listed on the system already. I was treated very well.

Did they give him the number at least? Have you tried to call the USCIS? Maybe they can advise you on what to do. I don't know how it is where you live, but as far as I know here they only have one Social Security Office. Well...I really hope you can get it figured out!!

I think the endorsed I-551 in your spouse passport should be enough (well, endorsed I-551 is your "temporary" green card) to show that he is eligible for SSN.

I would search for mdyoung's post - he might already answered someone else's issue that you are facing or PM/email him (I guess). Or try to search in SSA website if you can find anything yourself.

Good luck
