Ok. We are filling out the G-325A Bio Info form and Marsh swears he does not have a street address or number.
What do I put for this?

Anyone else confirm this?

In Jamaica you have to go to the Post Office to get your mail. All PO box numbers there.

The mail system is horrible. I mailed a card for a friend and it took 2 weeks to get across the island. And that it in Jamaica to a PO box in Jamaica...

laughing.gif laughing.gif Yes, it's true.....I almost had a fit when Roy couldn't give me an actual address <and I obsessed about this for weeks wacko.gif>.....I just put the road where he lived and all was fine.
Savanphil
Put the number of his house and the road that he lives on. Like if his house is the 4th house on the street...then put 4 XXXX Lane or whatever. My hubby's was the 5th house on his street and that was his address....the one we used and even when I mailed and FEDEX'ed they got to him...even though there arent actually numbers. The post man knows everybody so he didn't have to go to the post very often to pick anything up....I guess it may just depend on where they live...He lived in Westmoreland in the country. Goodluck
shrewdgal
He continues to tell me he does not have a street name and we are both just getting more and more frustrated at each other. He just keeps telling me to write, Spalding, clarendon, Jamaica.

I could scream. Also, I already asked about this, but I will ask here again...what is the best way to mail a large envelope to jamaica. and how do I do it? Do I just put the normal address on it? Do I go to the post office and ask how to mail it? Or is there like..a fed-ex office?
I am so confused!!

Someone suggested global priority, and I know you can do that at the post office..but is it reliable?? sheesh!

This is pretty much the way we did it too. As for the mail.... He has to go to the post office to collect his.

My situation is the same. I just put on there the name of the post office. Example:

Recipient Name (contact tele. #)
Happy Grove
New Market Post Office, St Elizabeth
Jamaica

I also put my contacts telephone number on the packet so they can call him for receipt.

It still is very difficult for me to understand their postal system. They need a postmaster general or something. good.gif
Minfay
That's what I did too when I sent him a letter via the mail. He got it. But, there would have been no chance of it being delivered to him -- he lived in Albion -- just outside of MoBay.

Yea I also put that. Living in country is the worse. Just put his name, city and the po.

ie...Garland Dist
Garland P.O.
St. James, Jamaica.
Savanphil
When I mailed him stuff I used the "new" postal codes. For instance his address was 5 XXXXXXX, Sav Jamaica...JMDWD17
JM = Jamaica
D= Zone
WD= Westmoreland.....all of the parishes have a code
17= the post office number

I will try to find the link, I think I got it from the Jamaica Observer site.

This must be new b/c I never seen this before. Thanks.

Who knew? Maybe that will help the mail get delivered faster.

I wouldn't count on it. There are actually some places in JA where they deliver mail. When I was living in Portmore I actually had mail delivered.
At our office in Mobay the electric bill usually comes in a day after it is due, if at all.

FedEx is prety reliable to JA, we've used them for years, costly though. I usually include the things I want to send the wife in a package going to the office, and she picks it up there.

As far as the address, believe what they say. If there is a real address it won't make sense. My last address was
Lot 428
Phase 2
Bogue Village
Montego Bay JA WI

But I lived on a street called Pearl Place.

Jomo's address was:

The community (White House)
The post office (White Sands PO)
The parish: (St. James)
The city and country (Montego Bay, Jamaica)

His mail got to him each and every time, 8 days exactly from when I mailed it. His visa went through without a hitch.
Minfay
That's how I sent stuff to Roy also -- he was in Montego Bay......we only had a 25% completion rate laughing.gif
nyseness
I think it depends on how big of a community it is.
JaEnglishGirl
Don't worry.
You can put the address he's given you on the form, there are many rural areas in Jamaica where there are no street names or numbers. I used to live in Hanover, there was no street address, we had to pick up the mail from the post office. I am sure this applies for many other countries too!
