They goofed at the border when processing him in, so green card delayed
Green card letter saying why the delay had his name spelled wrong
(We mailed everything they wanted Priority mail to Texas weeks ago)
Social Security office screwed up his address (badly enough he won't get the card)
Called them and they said he had to go back and fix at the office
He went back to that icky place and they refused to fix it. "Come back if you never get the card" so HELPFUL!!
He's been in US since Dec 1 - no Social, No GC yet
Is this normal time frame? Maybe just because of the holidays it is being delayed?
I feel bad because so much is hanging on the social (driver's license, bank account, paycheck)
just venting I guess. Should I call Texas Service Center? We mailed back the passport data and I kept a copy of the letter they mailed.... or do I have to call that fun-fun 800 #?

I'm sorry you've been having a rough time. As far as the timeframe goes, it's not completely abnormal not to have the ss card yet. Most people don't even apply for it until at least 2-3 weeks out, and then it usually takes another week or two to arrive, and sometimes there are mistakes, etc.
I'm not familiar with DCF, though, so someone else will probably be able to point you in the right direction as far as who to call.
Good luck!

I've been here since Dec. 6th and still no Welcome letter or GC. It's been a month today!! But I went to the Social Security Office and requested my SSN only 5 days after I arrived (even though I ticked the box in the DS-230 part II for them to send it to me) and got my SSN a week later on the mail. If I don't get my welcome letter by tomorrow I am planning to call the USCIS and ask what's going on. Also because I'm going to have to file to have my name changed, I wanted to do it asap!!!
Anyways, good luck! I do think they are bit backlogged because of Christmas....I'll let you know if I find out anything...

I'm sorry he's having such a hard time adjusting.

Well I found a form we can mail to Texas Svc Center at "60 days" after entry to inquire about his greencard. I wouldn't mind holding (forever) on the 800# if I thought it would do anything, but I just imagine they'll say to wait.
I suggested he go back for round 3 at Social Security on Monday. They had written our address wrong, and since we never got anything, I think he should go be the squeeky wheel....
thanks guys!!
