Do people wear business attire as thought they are attending a job interview or just go casual?

So we all want to know but no one knows?
I'd guess business casual too.

I asked the same question in another forum and this was the response (for Brazil but I'm sure the answer is the same for other countries):

Simple, nice and smart looking clothes could be the best way to boost our self-confidence and make a good impression on the interviewer.

I think it also depends on the embassy. For example, in Bogota, the waiting area is an open courtyard. The instructions from the embassy specifically advise to dress warmly and bring an umbrella. So, it pays to dress "smart" but also to dress "smartly"...and that will vary from location to location.

I wore jeans. I really don't think it matters what you wear. They can't turn you down for a visa just because you are not wearing a suit...

I wore nice jeans, a nice sweater, and brown Doc Martens to my visa interview. I saw people there dressed from super-casual to cocktail dresses.
For my AOS interview, we dressed like we were going to church (basically business casual).
Got through both interviews just fine.
