We arrived in the states on yesterday. We rented a truck and drove from Hamilton to Georgia! Very long trip! It took approximately a week to receive the visa and that was with the holidays included. Good luck to everyone! I am happy now!

Congratulations and welcome to Georgia! Oh, I can so sympathize about the long trip! We rented a van and crossed in Sarnia then drove to Georgia. I hope you will like it here - it is an absolutely beautiful state. Although the weather right now is rainy, this is about the worst it gets - occasionally down to freezing overnight but almost always back up above - and well above - freezing in the day. I haven't needed more than a jacket all winter since I arrived (May, 2003)- and wait until you see all of the beautiful trees in bloom in March! We live just south of Atlanta proper - there are number of expat Canadians in the area - so if you are close by, let's keep in touch. The Canadian Consulate hosts a great Canada Day celebration so you get to meet lots of fellow countrymen there, too. Congratulations and welcome.

Welcome To Georgia! My husband is Canadian (from Nova Scotia) and we live in Cleveland GA, northeast of Atlanta. We've discussed a possible get together for all the expats in this area...would still like to get this together sometime in 2007. Where will you and your beloved be living?
