I have a question about DS-230. My husband is my agent and I am the Beneficiary (In Canada). Who sends out the DS-230 package to NVC? My husband (petitioner) or me (beneficiary)? Also, do I send all the originals (including birth certificate, marriage certificate, etc etc? I was reading the instructions for DS-230 and am confused. Please help!!!

Thanks!

The consulate will send it in your packet three if I remember correctly. You keep your documents till the interview and make copies. They will take the copies and give orignals back. Accept for the police certificate they keep.

The DS-230 is not sent to the NVC. It is part of a package sent to you, the beneficiary in Canada, from the consulate (where the petition is sent after the NVC processes it). You, the beneficiary in Canada, fill out the DS-230 (and other forms) and then return it per the instructions in the package. For the K1, it had to be faxed back to the Consulate, but I cannot confirm that it is exactly the same for K3/K4. You may have to fax back part or all of it, and/or bring part or all of it with you to your interview at the consulate. You also have to fill out one for each child that would be immigrating with you, if any. Hope this helps!

For the CR1 visa, the NVC sends out the DS-230 .... we used a lawyer and he got the papers and gave them to my hubby and then he sent them to me....

I sent them back to my hubby and he gave them to the lawyer and he mailed them off to the NVC along with all the originals (including birth certificate, marriage certificate, etc etc)....

then the NVC sets up the interview and sends your packet to Montreal....
