Well, a week after getting my EAD in the mail I have landed myself a job! Went for the second interview today. Its a Receptionist job at a small manufacturing company in my area, only takes 5 minutes to drive there so that is an added bonus when you have spent the last 9 years of your life commuting for 3 hours a day in London! The money aint amazing but like my husband says, its a step in the right direction and I willl learn what working in America is like! Feeling both happy and sad at the same time! Happy that I have a job and can earn some money, sad that I can no longer do nothing all day long! laughing.gif

Good for you! smile.gif I was a receptionist once, I LOVED it, I'm sure you will too. And what a great commute!

I just found out my EAD was approved, so I'm going to be looking into jobs soon too. Hope I'm as lucky! (I too would miss the time off, I LOVE not working!)

Hell, I thought I was bored being stuck at home until, like you, got a job as soon as the EAD came through. Went to a temp agency and they had me start the NEXT morning, so I had no time to acclimatize to the idea. Boy did it come as a shock having to get up early every morning and have no time left for mooching around!

It's amazing what you find to fill the time when you are at home all day!

Anyway, congrats. When do you start?
Moldovandish
Congrats!
Yep, it's both exciting and at the same time a bit sad to go from staying at home all day to having a full-time job. I definitely miss my time at home, but at the same time I know I would go nuts if I had to stay at home for entire days.

That's great news!! Best of luck to you smile.gif

I already started! They offered me the job Monday and I started Tuesday. So far it sucks! Maybe its just me but I have come home this past two days feeling so exhausted you wouldnt believe! Maybe its cause I havent worked for 7 months and its a shock to my system but phew, I wish I could go back to doing nothing and its only been 2 days! I have a headache now too ... sorry about the moan, I hope it gets better and easier!
caviar22
Give it a couple weeks. whistling.gif It is tough to get back to work and very exhausting -- REGARDLESS of the job you do. Is there any way you can schedule a massage or something very relaxing for this weekend? biggrin.gif
allycat
It's definitely a shock to the system. You will get used to it in a couple of weeks, definitely. I have to say it was not a bad time not working for 8 months, but now that I have been working for 2 months, I am really enjoying it. It probably took me 2-3 weeks to get used to getting by on less sleep.

I hope you work with some nice people - I think that is the best part about working, finally having a life outside of the one you have with your spouse. Then you have plenty to chat about when you get home at night!

Enjoy the job and the paycheck. star_smile.gif
