When my husband first came here on a F-1 Visa he was issued a social security number but was not allowed to work with it unless authorized. We were wondering since now he will be recieving his permanent residence card if he will have the same number, and if he will need to go get a new card?

The number is issued for life. If the card has printed restrictions on it you will have to go to the SSA office and have them removed and a new card (with the same number on it) printed.
