C-Ewok, have you thought of locking the old forums so no one can post to them anymore? I have received several email notices of replies to /forums2 topics with recent posts.

I can't imagine *that* is going to help anything! <eek>

Way to hang in there; you are obviously working hard!

I should lock it yeah (forgot). I locked new reg's there already though. I wanted to give a few days to allow people to finnish their lines of thought on those topics though smile.gif.

So we have two sites to check up on? this is starting to feel like a j-o-b!
Seems like there are people left hanging over there who have no idea that the site migrated.

Now that searching on the new site is basically null, I hope members show more of a helping hand when it comes to the looking up of information. I am one of those memebers who does a search prior to posting anything, if I do post then I can't find it. Telling me to search for the answer is not very helpful.

Now I am not talking about going to forums2 to find stuff, I can do that, I am talking specifically about a quick question members may have time to time that get brushed off.

I dont see how thats possible though as the addy comes to here and has for days. Perhaps as they were still able to post over there.....they went there via here. Maybe.

I am little confused. I got the impression that the new forum was created because the old forum would corrupt and seize to work and thus were "all locked" to save the data. However, we are able to post in the old forums without any noticeable problems. I am not really technical with the computer stuff, but that does seem to imply that we could dump the new board and just go back to the old one and avoid all these transfer issues. Any thoughts?

I have no idea how they got there, L'elle, I just noticed because I got an email notice of a post to the DCF Forum(2) and followed it to see someone 'abandoning' their thread today for lack of response.

It sure would be helpful to have a direct link from this site to the advanced search of the old forums, so that we can look up old threads for ppl's reference.

I also got an email from a member in the old site yesterday. tongue_ss.gif

As a precaution I think the HOME page and the Forum INDEX page of the Old fora should have a redirect notice and explanation as to why there has been a rebuild. I sense there are a lot of folks from some time back that will somehow enter the old site, and think the VJ forum went belly-up! Actually, I go belly-up often, and that doesn't seem to interrupt things, but I am a sea creature, after all laughing.gif

from what I gather, ther old server kept crashing and they had to keep backing it up or whatever....thus losing the posts that were posted after the back up.. make sense?? wacko.gif tongue.gif
