Very nice folks, I decided to the Tourist Visa processing myself this time and apparently I forgot a cover letter. They called me at home and work until they found me and asked me to please fax the letter. Very nice and very helpful. If it works out I will really have to be be in a bind to pay to have someone do it for me ever again.

Saved about a $100USD by doing it myself but we will see if it is a bargin, should know in about 10 days if everything is ok.

I have only done this myself - I don't see why it is necessary to pay anyone else. The only thing you really need is the invitation, which you should be able to get from a hotel for free, or by paying an agency about $30.

My wife had a friend who is a travel agent make the invitation for me (easy).

I've been preaching this for over a year on VJ. But everyone used to say how much easier it is to pay the extra money. Because I preferred not be tied down to hotel or apartment and stay longer than 90 days, my wife always did the private invitation for me. Only costs a couple hundred rubles for her to get (actual price OVIR charged).

I've never had any problem with the Seattle consulate and getting a visa. Very fast, very professional.

No idea why anyone would pay some service to get them a visa, unless they are just a complete idiot.

Speaking of which - no news from Cam since his post about boinking the prostitute while he was off to meet the love of his life. I wonder if he came down with some nasty crotch rot or something.

Cheers!

Comments like that are uncalled for... It's called freedom of choice and doesn't make one an idiot.

As much help as some people are on this site there are very few that are not worth the price of their help (ie comments like that) so let me give you a bit of advice, you are able to ignore posters. Do a search on the features for this site. I figure everyone has right to post as they see fit and those I chose not to read I put on ignore. It is a very nice feature.

Of course it is. By the same token, it is not too logical to pay big money for someone else to do something for you, when you can do it quickly and easily yourself. It's like the people who have an uncomplicated, straight-forward case, but feel they MUST hire a lawyer to fill out the forms (typically designed for the 8th grade reading level) for them. Idiots or just absolutely no confidence in their own abilities? Call it anything you want, but I just don't get it.

But hey, I don't care what you do - makes no difference to me. I wish you the best of success and a speedy immigration process with no RFEs (:

Easier to just scroll on by to the next message....but you don't have to look too hard to see I've provided plenty of good advice to people on here - I've got several "thank you for the help" private messages sitting in my inbox as we speak. So, to each their own. (:

Cheers!

Of course it is. Make whatever choices you want - makes no difference to me. Besides, what I said was that I can understand why someone who is an idiot would want to use such services. I never said that using such services MAKES someone an idiot. Do pay attention, eh?

IMHO, it is not too logical to pay big money for someone else to do something for you, when you can do it quickly and easily yourself. It's like the people who have an uncomplicated, straight-forward case, but feel they MUST hire a lawyer for thousands of dollars to fill out the forms that are typically designed for the 8th grade reading level. Idiots or just absolutely no confidence in their own abilities? Call it anything you want, but I just don't get it.

There was a time in my life when I used to change the oil in my car myself. Yes, I could still do it myself but for the $ 25.00 extra I would just as soon not crawl under the car and feel the hot oil running down my arm and do all the fooling around.

Yes, I could do my visa myself too. I find it worth the extra money to just go online and have the whole thing done in 10 minutes without worrying about if I have forgotten something. I always have a lot to do. I find my time of more value used elsewhere.

Something like doing a K-1 myself, yes, absolutely. No one is an idiot. They just value their time differently.
