There's a thread here about Montreal changing their next day pick-up for all visas. I was wondering if anyone knew whether Vancouver would also be "streamlined" and discontinue pickups in person for K1s and K3s?

Here's the Montreal policy change thread: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=46676

Oh, I meant I was going to post what I sent them which is sitting in my sent items at home. smile.gif Anyhow, I got a response:

My question to them:
Hi there,

I was wondering if there was any policy changes coming up regarding pickups of K1 or K3 visas after interview approval. Montreal is in the process of changing their policy to phase out next day pickups (they will be mailing back the passports with visas attached) in January.

Is the Vancouver consulate planning on doing the same? Or are K1 and K3 pickups still available same or next day?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Their response:
At this point we have not changed anything in Vancouver. Will advise the applicants in due time if we were to change.

Thanks for the information!

Forgot to mention that the reply was from their K Visa department, not just general info:

Thanks for checking into it smile.gif

Hey thanks for checking into this!! I had just booked my flights when all this chaos with Montréal started and I was getting really nervous that I was going to get the same nasty surprise in Vancouver and have to change my flight. One less stress, thanks!

I had to contact the Vancouver consulate today to ask a few questions .... while I was on the phone with a rep. from the K visa department, I asked about same or next day pick up of visas. The rep. stated that if they have everything they need with the application and it is approved, then the applicant should be able to pick up the visa that day or the next.

At least they are continuing to give that response smile.gif

WHEW!

---Not that we're anywhere near that point yet, but I track these things. Mostly it drives me nuts rather than contributing to any planning.

I imagine you will be fine. The rep. did say same day first but then added possible next day. It seemed more like an afterthought, like she was covering it in worst case scenario.

Ahh hehe thanks. Lifted a bit of the worry off me biggrin.gif
