My fiance emailed me to say I should call the NVC this morning. I don't know for what reason. He's somewhere I can't reach him at the moment otherwise I'd ask him. I was hoping someone might know what information I'd be trying to obtain by calling the NVC.

If it's any help to your answer, we received the NOA2 a few weeks ago.

Thanks.

I think he wants you to call NVC to ask what's the new case number assigned to you, that will be the one he'll need to have to ask for information on your case once it's reached the consulate. Also, with this case number he can already get the medical done and fill out packet 3 forms.

NVC is the next place your petition would go after NOA2, calling them a few weeks after NOA2 will find out the status of the petition and if the petition had moved on to the consulate. I waited 2 weeks after NOA2, and then folowed up with NVC, called them once a week to see about status.

USCIS online status system will not provide any info once the case has been sent to NVC.

It can be hard to get through to them though - unless it's almost midnight.
You can try e-mailing - nvcinquiry@state.gov
Don't forget to give them your receipt number on your NOA2.

Call them everyday tell them you want to confirm receipt of your packet & if you can have your case #. I called 1st thing in the a.m. & the people were very nice.

After they confirm receipt & give a case # call back everyday again to receive a status update usually on the 3rd day they will tell you the shipment date of your case to fiancees embassy. You can track it on DHL too.
