Ok, we just mailed our I-751 form to remove the conditions on my wifes green card today, how long does it usually take before we receive the NOA1 after submission (anyone who has gone through the Vermont Service Center we would especially appreciate your input as Vermont is where we live and we are going through that service center)?

Just an FYI...I-751 fee is now $275. This includes a biometrics fee of $70 (seperate checks). This steams me as we had just printed off our I-751 form two weeks ago and it didn't mention anything about biometrics! Of course we just mailed our packet on Saturday...with only the $205 for the I-751 included. I called the USCIS to confirm this and the lady said yes, the current total fee's are $275 including the biometrics. She said they must have updated the form in the two weeks were assembling our packet and that our packet would be returned to us and we were to just include another check for $70 and resubmit it. This is such bullsh!t, just another way for the government to soak a few extra dollars out of us!!! Oh, the silver lining is you no longer need to get passport photos to include since they're going to run another biometrics on you. It's not going to effect my wifes petition because we're 3 months ahead of her green card expiration but by the time we get the packet back and resubmit it it'll only be 2 1/2 months before...very irritating!!!

Oh my God! I just mailed 12/18 my I-751 with $205. I just verified it and it is true. The new fee is $275.
Shall I send a check with $70 or wait for the package to be returned? I'm so upset right now. My package has been ready and sealed for the last couple of weeks.

Trust me, I'm just as upset as you are!!! It seems this form just barely changed within the past couple of weeks. The lady I spoke to said to wait until we received our packet back, insert the additional check for $70 and resubmit it. Soooo irritating!!!!

I just came from the Post Office. They gave me the envelope back and they also returned the fee.
I just can't believe it!
They have these forms to recall. They can intercept the mail before reaches the destination.
I'm not sure when you sent your package but you can give it a try and go to the post office.

Unfortunately it's too late for mine to be retrieved, I sent it Priority Mail on saturday and it probably has arrived already as we live in Vermont so the mail will get to the Vermont Service Center very quickly. I just hope they return the packet quickly so we can stick in the other check and resubmit it as soon as possible!

I just spoke with the USCIS again to reverify the information I had been told and the person I spoke with wasn't even aware of the fee change until she looked it up on her computer...that's how new this change is, I literally printed out the same form on Thursday night and it had no mention of the Biometrics fee whatsoever...just the $205 I-751 fee so thischanged/updated within the past 3 days...that just plain SUCKS!!! She did say that our packet wouldn't be returned to us and that they would just notify us through mail requesting the additional fee be sent. I asked if we could just send it now and she recommended not and to just wait until we are notified to send it. I will be SOOOOO glad when we are done with this immigration crap!!!

It sucks... I just don't understand why they don't make it easier. I got a nice job and I'd like to plan a vacation but having an expired green card just makes me nervous...

Hi guys,

I have mailed my I-751 packet w/ $205 fee Dec 12th overnight. They Probably have received by Dec 13th. But I saw my bank acct. they have already cashed my check Dec 18th.

Now I am wondering if they were going to me asking me for $70 more or I have no idea!!!!!

I am in the same boat with you guys. I filed the I-751 with the old form and $205 even though I printed it out v. recently. I spoke with an immigration officer who told me my petition was being processed and not to worry. They said also that it would be possible to pay the additional $70 at the biometrics appointment.

I also had to deal with the additional problem that my $205 check bounced. I am praying it is re-submitted automatically at the bank. Typical! It's only the 2nd time in my life I've bounced a check, and it is all because I delayed a few hours in transferring $. Just my luck!!!!

Here's a comment on the issue by a noted immigration attorney who posts to the Usenet newsgroupt <alt.visa.us.marriage-based>:
"Hi:

This topic of discussion has come up on the Attorney Chat Rooms -- the reports are that the $205 cases are being accepted. It seems that the only place the implementation of biometric fee is noted is on the new instruction sheet and on one page of the INS web site. One of my suite mates wondered if the Service Centers even know about it.

Do note that NO NOTICE was given of this purported change.

Ok, does anyone know exactly when this fee change came into effect?
I sent off my I-751 the beginning of this month. I sent it "return receipt requested" and that came back to me last week telling me that the director of services for the Vermont Service Center accepted my documents on Dec. 7th, 2006.
I sent only a 205$ check for the processing fee but my check still has not been cashed. (which has worried me a bit)
I'm guessing that those who sent their I-751 before the change came into effect will not be asked for further fees but the question is: What exactly is that date? unsure.gif

Ooops double post, sorry. huh.gif
