I got my very first credit card today!! good.gif It is a Chase card that I got through Amazon...

it came a bit to late though because the reason I applied for it was because you got a $30 credit the first time you use it and that would have paid for the things I ordered as gifts from Amazon which I of course have already bought tongue.gif but maybe I can order something for hubby from there... not sure if it would get here for Christmas though...

This is the second card I have tried applying for and I thought for sure that they wouldn't give it to me... The other card I tried was from Walmart but they denied me tongue.gif

YAY!

Aren't these little-bitty validations of person-ness just RIDICULOUS! lol
*Marilyn*
yup, what is funny though is that I never had a credit card in Canada.... laughing.gif

I applied for a bunch back in Canada but they always denied me tongue.gif

Chase Amazon are pretty generous. I applied for that last year and got $40. Once I spent the money I closed it immediately. Then I applied for it again this year and they gave me another $30. Then I applied for the business card and they gave me another $25. I will close them all once they are spent with the free cash. The ole man did exactly the same thing. I wonder if they will let us do it a 3rd year running. Crazy stuff. whistling.gif

Anyway, congrats on your card. good.gif

I'm kinda hesitant with doing stuff like this (opening and closing accounts soon after), since we are pressing ahead to get our house next year, and I have a funny feeling this impacts negatively on my credit re. mortgage financing. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, please. Then I can go splurge whistling.gif

I got approved for a platinum card a few weeks back. Good thing too as Christmas is going to be "thrifty" this year wink.gif

I don't know whether to congratulate you or give condolences. They can be a useful tool in everyday life or the rope which will eventually hang you. I've seen it turn out both ways. One thing is sure...they allow you to buy stuff you don't need with money you don't have. Welcome to the American consumer economy. wink.gif

Good luck!

Wow, great news about the credit card marilyn,..

This time last year, I had my first Credit card in the US approved,..started off also at 500. At the 6 mth anniversary, they increased it too 1400, and low and behold, I checked online a few days ago when I was banking, and they increased it again, to 3000 blink.gif ....He He He. As a person with 16 years + working in a bank, I know that can be dangerous, but with that experience also comes discipline!!
