I have looked at the I-130 and G-325A. They seem pretty straightforward. Is it necessary to employ an immigration attorney?

Not unless you have something complicated about your past, I have not employed a lawyer.

The Guides here are excellent, follow them carefully, use the example forms. And you should do OK.

Lawyers can not make the process go any faster.

Ask questions when you cannot find an answer by search, or in the guides.

Good luck.

I agree.
We didn't use a lawyer because our case was pretty straightforward...And everything went well. smile.gif

When I started this process I went to see a lawyer, the first half hour was free and I asked most of the questions that I needed to ask within that half hour. What I learned from that experience was that I could do this with God's help on my own, with the use of the forum and through talking with my husband. Between the two of us, the use of the forum, lots of prayer and patience, we have done well so far with no problems. That being said, if we should run into a problem that may become something big, I have no hesitation in hiring a lawyer.

Hope this helps rose.gif

If a case is straightforward, then a lawyer is not necessary. You can ask questions here about the forms, process and friendly VJ people will answer them for you.

The simple answer is no you do not have to hire a lawyer, keep in mind though that if anything complicated arises then yes by all means employ there services.
