Our NOA2 expired on December 12th. I am concerned, as we have not received anything in writing that the petition was extended. We received approval at the Nov. 7th interview pending the authentication of his birth certificate. The caseworker says that we should not worry as the case is still alive as I call him every week and they are awaiting word from the Congo. Should I worry? I feel like he will never get to come. The case worker said some countries take up to 3 months to authenticate the birth certificate, and with the holidays, I just feel hopeless sometimes.

Frustrated,
Monica

Monica,

As long as you are pursuing the visa the consulate will extend the validity of the petition. You have done all that you can and need to do, everything is in the hands of the consulate now, so your petition is safe (unless someone at the consulate makes a major error).

Yodrak,

Thank you so much for the words of wisdom. I think I can sleep a little easier tonight!

Best,
Monica
