I'm so mad, the embassy is asking my fiance to provide a document that states that she was not previously married. I think this is crazy.
Nowhere in their requirements it asks for such a document.

I have read that several times here on VJ and certain countries require it more than others.
As soon as they get it she should receive her visa.

I have no idea about the Ukraine. In the Philippines they require a CENOMAR or Certification of No Marriage. So hopefully she can find a source there to provide something similar.

everandel,

There is a requirement that a K1 visa applicant be unmarried, and it is a consular officer's duty to be sure that the visa applicant meets the requirement. For some reason the consular officer handling your fiancee's case seems to have some doubt, and is doing their job to remove that doubt.

To Yodrak:

Should all applicants in Ukraine obtain this document even if not asked for?

To others:

Where is such a document obtained?
