Has anyone run into the problem of not having enough memory in your computer to copy the barcodes using James' Shortcuts?

Did you have a way to solve the problem?

I was doing manual cut and paste (literally using scissors and glue), until I got to the I-864 Cover Sheet, which requires you to resize the barcode AFTER you copy it to the cover sheet.

Am I doomed to waiting for the official NVC generated documents?

hi there

there are a number of ways to free up memory on your computer

if you click on start go into your programs then on accessories then look for system tools then click on disk cleanup

the computer scans your computer and shows how much space you can free up ..eg temporary internet files compressed old files etc..then do a defrag then reboot (defrag us under system tools)

you could also look at what programs you havent used for along time if you dont use them delete them...

hope this helps and if you knew all this i hope you didnt mind me telling you step by step

I can't be the ONLY one who has run into this problem (or who ever will run into it), so I am posting my findings after the result of further persistence (i.e trying 5 differenct computers):

1. The problem was not disk space as kath&rob alluded to. This is a "RAM" issue which doesn't include disk space. Although I appreciate the suggestions from kath&rob (and I did try them for the heck of it).

2. The only "memory" error I ran into was on my own computer.

3. Some other computers didn't give me an error, they just did not display the copied barcode in the Word Document after I clicked on "Paste"

4. Through trial and error, I figured out that I needed to do a "Paste Special..." and then select "Device Independent Bitmap". This worked for the other computers AND mine, even despite the error message of insufficient memory.

Hope this saves someone else hours of frustration, and possible days or weeks waiting for NVC documents you could have already sent in smile.gif

YES! acutally, i did have this problem also. Let me remember what i did....I right clicked on the barcode, and clicked SAVE AS, assinged where I was saving the picture to, (a folder in My Pictures) then, I went back into Word, and I used the toolbar at top, and INSERT picture (From File) and it worked fine. Let me know if that works. PM me for more help.
