couple of questions...

so anyone else here get an interview date for feb 6, 2007?

for those who have had their interview, does the office ask when you want to travel to the USA and issue the visa accordingly?

is it possible to get the visa to travel after 6 months?

has anyone ever rescheduled their interview?

last question, has anyone ever brought their fiancee to the US for a week, marry her and then she went back to russia and returned at a later date?

thanks in advance!

They assume you will leave within 6 months.

Sure, reschedule the interview.

At least a few cases that we know of here. It doesn't seem to be a big deal, just call the embassy. Slim can give you the details for Moscow.

Since it is a fiance visa, there is absolutely nothing wrong with doing this. To re-enter the US, you would be applying for a K-3/CR-3 visa. An immigration lawyer will most likely advise you that it is better to do the AOS from inside the US - but in this case, I don't see any problems. ( The principal reason they would say this is that lawyers have very limited power to seek relief for aliens outside the US. In practice, after meeting the terms of the K-1 you will have no problem getting a K-3 for the same spouse).

Plan on at least getting a SSN #, driver's license, and joint bank account before leaving the US. It will make your life easier later on.

The day after you get married, you would file an I-130 (alien relative petition, Moscow as the embassy) and I-485 (AOS). Then, the timeline about the same as the K-1 was. Your spouse would plan on entering the US with the CR-3, which is better. You could possibly get a K-3 faster, but since you need time anyway, it would be better to wait for the CR-3.

Leaving the US is the easy part. Re-entry is the hard part so please define later?

If she leaves before AOS or AP then you will restart the process from the beginning and file for K-3 or if you meet the residency requirements in Russia you could apply for CR1/IR1 (but that requires you living there for a period of time)

If you come to the US for 2 weeks on a non-immigrant (K-1) visa, I don't think there would be any problem with not living there.

Just adding my two cents worth. Why would you risk the long separation by getting married and having her return to Russia before getting her green card. If you go through all the trouble of getting the K-1 visa, then finish it as quickly as possible. Then you will have the opportunity to come and go as you please. Sure, it puts some restrictions on your immediate freedom, but in the long run it is worth it.

By the way, the issues here are not specific to Russia. You should have posted this in the K-1 visa forum.
