Well my interview date is January 23rd. I was really hoping it would be sooner than that.
I'm not totally devastated but I am a little bitter. From past timelines I was fairly sure Vancouver was faster than that.

Yeah. It just screwed up a bunch of stuff I guess. The cost of my moving truck went wayyyy up because it's at the end of the month

Relax. Everything happens for a reason. There's a silver lining but you just don't know it yet.
I too was disappointed with January 18 in Montreal. I thought it would be faster. But now I realize how fast December goes, and how ridiculous it would have been to try and combine a major holiday and major reunion.
Even though we'll be apart, and with with our respective families for the holidays, we'll have a colassal party for my husband when he enters the U.S. legally. It'll be the perfect time of year for a Welome Home party.

I'm glad you finally heard about an interview date. While I don't think you'll get a sooner one, if it's really important that you have something earlier in the month or mid month, maybe ask for a different week in February?
If there isn't more staff then when I was there, I can see that they can't do too many in a day. With only 3 working days the week of Christmas, that might have slowed things down a bit.

Yeah it's okay, I've calmed down since last night. My mom has me worrying my head off now that I wont have some piece of paper they need or something, and that I'll get denied.
Also I can't fill out those online forms >.< my computer wont let me do it for some reason, it screws up and says page cannot be found every time I hit the submit button... so I printed them out but there's no barcode /sigh.

Glad to hear you're feeling better about the situation. With the holidays and everything, it'll give you lots of time to make sure everything is in order, and the time will just fly by! It might be that they are a little understaffed at this time of the year. I'm sure many of the staff at the consulate want to go home and be with their families over the holidays too, probably a lot of vacation time is being used

And remember, you are still way of ahead of where you'd be if you were going through Montreal, so that's something to be thankful for.
If you can, I suggest doing the forms on another computer rather than fill them by hand. I'm pretty sure Vancouver likes the forms to be filled electronically. Is your Adobe up to date?

Yeah I filled them out typing, that was no problem. But the DS156, the one you kinda have to go and do online in a special way? That one wont work for me. If I understand correctly there's supposed to be a barcode generated on that. I can't get it to work =/

You might want to try another computer with a fully functional version of Adobe Reader to fill out your DS-156. I'm thinking Vancouver might be anal about having the barcode.

I'll try and upgrade/fix it in the time before I head out to Vancouver. Thanks for the tip

Iuse Firefox and Explorer as my browsers, I know sometimes one will have issues with certain prorgrams, ie acrobat, thus I use the other one, and that sometimes solves it. best of luck

There is definitely a slow down on handing out interview dates everywhere due to upcoming holidays!!! I was so sure I would get something for January, but now I've been told Feb. Count your lucky stars you got your date and good luck with the interview!
