Well I got my call about 4:10am from Mohamed. He was in very good spirits, thank God. He waited about 3 hrs with the rest of the folks. He saw ppl come and go...some were sent away unapproved, some were sent away needing more info, etc. He was then called up and told to pay TNT then returned to be interviewed by a man. He said the man was very kind and friendly to him. He asked Mohamed if he spoke English and Mohamed said, yes. He gave the man some of my recent pay stubs. The man thanked him and put it in his file. The man asked where I work and what I do for a living. He answered. Mohamed then presented the man with his photo album and the man told him it wasn't necessary. Mohamed insisted and the man took it and looked it over. He pointed to a photo of me and asked..is this your wife? Mohamed said, yes. Then Mohamed proceeded to explain who was in some of the photos with us and what the photos were of. Mohamed also gave the man our phone records and emails and the man looked at them briefly and handed them back. After the man gave Mohamed the originals of his documents back and told him he was approved for the visa. He said it would take about a month for processing. Mohamed asked him if all his paperwork was in order and if he was missing anything at all. The man said, no, you're all set. Mohamed asked if there was a chance that they could deny him later. The man smiled and said, no, you will get your visa after processing. Alhamdulillah!
I asked Mohamed if he asked the man how long processing would take or if the man offered this information. He said that the man told him it would take about a month without him asking. I asked if anyone was rude to him there at all. He said, no, everyone was nice and friendly to him. Shocker!
Now I'm not trusting this one month time frame because of what I've heard about Cairo here. Mohamed told me to not call or email about the case until after the month has passed. He knows what a spaz I can be
Just a little funny thing happened on the way to the embassy...the car that was taking him there got a flat tire on the way. I happened to call him while he was waiting for it to be changed. Nice!
Thank you everyone for your kindness and support along the way. I couldn't have gotten through this (or continue to go through this) without y'all
Jackie...thank you lending me your ear and opening your heart to me so early this morning. You don't know how much that meant to me.
Ok I shall start working now since I'm all wired after being awake all night
