What's the easiest way to re-do this list?

I tried going to the Embassy page, and whne I clicked on find all members from Jamaica, I got this error

At the top of each page where it says

click on the link to get to your profile and follow down the left side of the page

I saw that, but its as if the dropdown is greyed out - I can't click on it and activate it.

Clear your cache out, it worked for me. Mine was greyed out on Firefox but not on IE.

I will fix that right now! I was waiting to see if people needed that done.. now that you said it I am running a conversion tool .

Update: The conversion is done. Let me know if it worked!

do friends add themselve to the list? i mean, i've added some folks to my list. went back recently an there were others. i do not mind these folks on my list(fact is i think very highly of them), but wow.

I noticed that too, that I think everyone I've sent PMs to has been added to my friends list. It must have something to do with the thing Captain updated.

Hmm wait, only about 3 more people were added to mine. Not everyone I've PM'd. I'm confused.

I had one marked folder in my PM center which was j3dnight, from when we were going through the visa process at the same time. But that doesn't explain to me how Sujeet and Lexa got added to my friends list all of the sudden. Can someone explain?

i think back in the day you can do something similar, mark someone as a buddy. maybe cpatn carried that info over.

Yes. I converted old "buddies" to "friends". You can change as you see fit. Some people will be "mutual buddies" after you affect their friend request. Others may be non mutual buddies if you add them and they have not accepted you as a buddy. :-p.

people can add you as friends....but you have an option under your profile to set how you want to have people add you as friends...

go under settings in your profile.... and go down to moderation options....

either click on "allow addition without approval" or "only add with approval"

The thing I am talking about though is something different. Lexa and J3dnight and Sujeet have not been active lately, and they appeared on my friends list because of Captain updating something from the old VJ version. Something about marking buddies. If I added these ppl as buddies in the past, I don't remember how or when I did it. lol.

Oh well. That is why I hesitated converting things. In any case you can remove them if you want :-p.

No it's fine, I was just confused. Sure I'd love to have my husband on my list. But I thought it was funny he appeared there since he hasn't been active in a year and half. I am sure what you did was useful. I'm just dumb. I like the people who were added on due to the conversion, it's just that they aren't active so that's why it confused me. I didn't remember the buddy thing.

It is doing that when I go to reply to a post too, like now...but no one else seems to be mentioning it. Weird. I cleaned out my cache and did the hard refresh as Capt'n suggested but it is still doing it. A big blank area beside the smiley and quick access boxes

When you click their name and a menu comes down, or go to their profile, it will say the option to "add as friend".

It was doing it to me at work when I was using IE. Now that I'm at home on Firefox, it's back to normal. Dunno.

Lots of ways to add a friend. One way is directly from their profile. There's an add friend option.

Thanks guys, found it I couldn't for the life of me find how people where being added to my list and how I could do it, so knowing about the dropdown menu with the ID did the trick.

What the heck is this 'rating' thingy anyway? It's making me nervous......lol

I will see how that goes. I may disable it if it is abused....

Not sure there is a point. I was hoping that if anything in the long haul it would be useful to see if a member was a troll or upset people (very low rating) or vice versa. Maybe if people can rate others but only I can see it .

I just set it to update once a minute.

I think you get an email when someone adds you as a friend. Not 100% sure though.

Tbh, I think rating systems are bad. It's very 'big bro' and looking for validation. It is clear when a troll is in the midst...and ya don't need no stars to realize it.

This morning, I could add others to my friend's lists, even if they added me to theirs first. This evening, I can't add myself to anyone's list if they've already added themselves to mine. I'm not sure if I just forgot what I did this morning, or if something has changed since.

I've noticed that a lot of people out themselves onto my list, but I can't put myself in theirs. That's what I mean.

Example. In a post click on their name and click the "add friend" icon. That should work. Try through their profile as well.
