Read the I-134 and it does not require a tax return to be attached. YES YES - I'm sending mine anyway (and a transcript from the IRS as well just in case she's asked for it) - but the instructions dont requre one.

Or unless your consulate requires tax returns as a separate item.

good.gif Things can always vary from Embassy to Embassy. always check your packet, Embassy's website or contact your Embassy.

My consulate wants tax returns and the I-134 is optional. I am going to provide a I-134 to my fiancee and have her hold it back unless asked for. I am way over the poverty line so I am hoping it will not be requested.

Yup.

No two consulates are alike.

YMMV. *wink*

Puhlease.... You pick this thread to finally play the repeat card? I read you responses to the exact same questions almost every day. What made you finally decide on this thread? smile.gif

I was not talking about consulates, I was talking about the I-134, and I stand corrected on one issue, and that is 'if you are self employed'. Otherwise, the I-134 does not necessarily require a tax return.

mugz
sunandmoon
yes. you are correct the I-134 about not being required, unless self employed. good.gif I know you've done your research in preparing for your interview. there are some who don't do much or any research. they may interpet not needing ITR for I-134 as meaning they don't have to submit it, when in fact they may be required to submit one.
Yodrak
Bill,

Meeting the public charge requirements of the law doesn't require the I-134, either. It simply requires showing that the visa applicant will not become a public charge after entering the USA.

Tax returns, like I-134, is one of many documents that can be used.
