Mrs. Forgetful
Ok so my husband bought his youngest sister(adopted) a Dora the Explorer magical castle. The package is larger than my suitcase. He would like to take it with us when we go, but I don't think they airline will allow us to either send it or carry it. Does anyone know what we can do to get it to Morocco?
MrsAmera
I think you will have to airmail it. Last time we checked about mailing a large package via boat it was no longer an option. We have alwasy sent USPS and it's the cheapest and everything has always gotten there.

I donnow about Maroc but I sent smaller packages to Algerie and both times they never got there...so I have stopped sending anything in the post. It is I think better to take things with you or sent them with trusted pppl traveling to that country. biggrin.gif

Just a piece of advice...i sent a box through USPS and it was all of our evidence for the interview and it got completely lost. I even payed extra for guranteed delivery so enought said on that one. dont use Fedex either they routed my second package headed towards to morocco to Mexico and it sat there for a week. I have heard DHL is good but not sure about size of the package. good luck

I even stopped sending letters to my husband - they get lost somewhere in Morocco. Unless it's a big city... But the cheapest you'd pay from here (Philly) it's $28.50 by USPS. Maybe you could just take the box as your carry on? Don't know with the new rules now...
Call the airline and ask them, they'll tell you what you could do.

DHL is definetly very expensive it cost me 65$ to send my husband some papers to USA he needed during our visa process.. so you can imagine how it will cost you sending big package !! huh.gif
charles!
i'm less than impressed with dhl after nessa's papers, upon being sent from nvc, took a southern route to florida and then wound up in hong kong, europe, and then finally in brazil. nothing like a side trip world tour while i'm waiting for them to arrive in brazil ranting33va.gif
eta: they took about a week to get there. they were the LAST ones out of nvc to be delivered......

Ok the way I see it is you have 2 options besides shipping it. You can take it out the box and maybe take it apart and squeeze into your suitcase OR you can return it and buy something just as nice that comes in a smaller package.

you can also I believe add it on to your luggage as an oversized package i've seen ppl bring strollers and bigger things of the likes or huge sporting goods i think there's an extra fee but its much better to bring it in person call your airline and ask thanks

I am sure that this is possible . . . I paid $100 for a 3rd suitcase (up to 50lbs on Lufthansa) . . . this would probably be cheaper than shipping it with an express shipper. I've seen ppl checking in golf clubs and other things. So definitely call your airline to find out what your options are.

No can do on this one. I already suggested it, but he had already showed his family all their presents, even the ones i told him not to show that I had bought for them! What's the point in a present if it's not a surprise when you get it?

Anyway, thanks fo the advice. I think when we purchase the tickets we will call and ask about the extra package fee.
