I read the EI post up above there, but the old forum says its offline and I can't access it. Done some reading online too.

Can someone just.. clarify the process for me? I had no idea I could even think about applying for EI when I move.
I'm done work on the 15th of December, moving sometime in January is my best guess.

What I did was apply online once I was in the US for a few weeks (I have heard others say that you can appy in Canada but I am not sure) ... Make sure you don't delay to long from applying once you arrive in the US as you could affect your claim if you wait too long ... You will also have to photocopy your K-1 Visa from your passport and your I-94 you got when you arrive in the US and mail them off to Canada EI ... I got a call from Canada EI about 3-4 weeks later just confirming a few things and then she told me my first checks were on the way ...

You can also call the out of Canada phone number 1-877-486-1650 ... Whenever I called it and I got the leave a message bit I would just hang up and call back in about 30 minutes ... You can usually get someone on the phone rather easily and it is my understanding is all they deal with is out of Canada claims at this number ...

I didn't have any problems whatsoever getting my claim going and to start collecting checks ... I have heard others have problems ... Don't give up to easy if they say you are not eligible ... When I filled out my cards there was only one question where I filled in Yes and it was the one with "were you willing and able to work during this pay period" ...

Good luck !!

How would you apply in Canada if you had to copy your I-94? I thought that was given to you upon arrival in the US?
Did you do a name change after you were married? Was thinking it might help insofar as evidence of marriage, relationship for AOS at some point.

Hmmm crap.
Now... one of my jobs over summer was filling out ROEs for firefighters... but the job I'm working at is a little... sketchy.
Is it the company itself that generates the ROE? Or does it come from somewhere else?
Because I have a feeling I wont be getting one when I quit.

I was in the cdn Armed Fores, they were the ones that gave me my ROE

Sketchy? By that do you mean "under the table and not paying taxes". Those kind of jobs do not provide ROE. By law, every company who has employees is to submit EI, CPP & Income Tax amounts for their employees and maintain Payroll records. When you leave they are required to send your ROE within a week of termination to the gov. and to you. But if it's subcontractor or "under the table for cash" deals. You won't get an ROE.

Well it isn't so much that. I get taxes taken off and stuff.
But she only pays once a month (and is required by law to pay bi-weekly), refuses to pay overtime, etc.
I'm just not sure that they will bother to send me an ROE when I leave.
