Happy Monday!

Hope you all have a good one. Today I work, trying at 10am to close a $5,000 carpet order. Then at 3pm measure another house. I get to come home then and hibernate. It is a whopping 14 degrees here.
What's everybody else doing today?

I don't wanna be awake! Wanna go back home and sleep under all 5 layers of blankets! I'm feeling under the weather this morning. Runny nose, cough, and the wonderful sore throat. I am so cold too! My bank is always so dang cold. I have the heater one next to me all year round. But anyway, I am glad to be alive. My mother is going to be leaving KC this morning and head here to visit for a week or two. Not to excited about that though. How do you get a full grown woman who acts more like a rebelious teenager, to follow and respect the rules you have made for your house? So, just a heads up, this week I may not be in such a great mood. Hope you all have a good day.

Froze my tush off walking to work this morning. I think I need to invest in some thermals. I'm a nervous wreck today. I'm trying to keep my mind on my work BUT IT AIN'T HAPPENIN'. I hope there aren't too many days of this nonsense. A person has to be able to make a living, you know?

Okay s Monday is starting to look more appealing. I received an email from my finace. We have a phone date tonight. (nudge nudge wink wink)
Yesterday afternoon I had an interesting conversation with someone. They were shocked (though they would deny it, the look on their face said it all) when i described my wedding ring choice. I have decided on wearing 2 bands for my wedding ring. Both in silver. One a silver band from Morocco and one a silver band from Tiffany's. (yes i want the little blue box and yes I watch Breakfast at Tiffany's too much

) . I was told that silver is not approriate for a weddng ring because it is not gold. I was told if I do not like gold, I should get white gold because my wedding ring should reflect the importance of my committement. Silver is just too cheap to reflect this!

We got moved into our new house on Friday. Got most of the boxes unpacked and things put in it's place. The carport is full of empty boxes. I cant even get my tahoe in there. The garbage guys are gonna hate us on Thursday.

Hachemi and I both are so exausted and are now sick. We are going to the civil surgeon this afternoon to get the vaccination document done for AOS. It is ready to send except for that. I will be glad to get it sent off, finally. Hope every one has a good day.

Not sure who said this, but I think for a lot of MENA people, gold is valuable because it holds its value. Diamonds, other stones and siliver are considered 'cheap'. Thel thinking is that gold gives a women wealth independent of her husband.

I plan on doing exactly what I want to do

But I was talking about my rings on my hand, not for my SO. When we first met, we exchanged rings. I had this silver ring from Italy htat I always wore on my middle finger, It was inexpensive but I loved it. He had a ringer (with some of the Berber Alphabet on it) that did't fit even my middle finger well but I loved it. After we exhanged rings I was teased by the people I was traveling with (both Moroccan and American) because either I made a huge cultural faux pas or I was engaged. Turns out I did end up being engaged
He still wears my ring. I lost mine in the airport.

I know my SO will want to continue to wear this ring of mine rather than buy a wedding ring for himself.

You know, Noura, I have been told that Muslim men are not supposed to wear gold, but while in Egypt, it seemed a normal thing to get simple gold wedding bands . . . they have bags full of these things that they pull out when you go to the jeweller . . . already sized up, lol, and ready to engrave with your names. These are basic bands. . . . no diamonds anywhere.
After all that, I find out my husband prefers silver,

That is what Usama told me. I asked what we will do about rings and he said we'll just go to the store and get them and have them engraved. I was kinda shocked like it was no big deal but I guess it's a common thing. I could care less what I wear. I just want something to remind me of him though.

Do you know if the sizes there are the same as sizes here? He said he could get it done ahead of time if he knew my size but I don't even know my size since I"ve lost weight and I wasn't sure if it would be the same or not.

Doodle...they usually have several different sized rings on hand. Wide bands, thin bands also. I chose a thin, simple band for myself. Gold prices go up and down so I hope you guys catch it on the down cycle. When I was there last year in Dec. gold was about 70LE a gram. In the summer it was up to 102LE a gram.
Mohamed has a silver band but it's kinda crappy silver so I'll prob. get him a better one once he's here inshallah.

Dec 4 2006, 12:11 PM
Moody, my Mohammed has worn his crappy silver ring for 4 years, so for our wedding anniversary this year, I bought him a better shiny one and when he went to take off his original wedding ring, his face was so sad. I asked him what was wrong, and he said he preferred the worn ring with more meaning.
Needless to say, I returned the new ring and he proudly wears the ring I gave him in Jordan.

The Hyatt on Front? Next to the river? Penns Landing? There's loads to do around there. That's old city. THat's where you will find most of the historic stuff. Penns Landing, liberty bell, betsy ross house, ben franklins house, Independence hall, Independence visitor center where you can get maps of all the historic places, the new constitution building... can't really think of any others right now. Wednesday nights, there is a place I like to go Salsa Dancing called Brazils. It starts at 9 and is $5. There's a lesson from 9-10 and free dancing after the lesson. Also lots of good places to eat. There's two moroccan restraunts down there and one middle eastern. Those are actually on South Street. I recommend "Imperial Few" That's at 2nd and South. Then there's another place that I can't remember the name but that's at 4th and South. the other is marrakech and that's somewhere between 4th and 6th and south. Never been to that one. South street is a hoping area with a lot of neat stores. Anyway, I am working Wednesday until 10, Thursday until about 7, and Friday until 6:30-7:00, so I am always up for coffee after work.

I been going to the doctor's and telling the the same things over and over. They say... Maybe it's you allergies to shell fish(my stomach), Maybe you get migraines becuase of a trigger, maybe maybe maybe.... I am tired of hearing maybe. When I asked them to do an internal scan to make sure I am really fine, they were like "your not telling us any serious things at the moment so we can't do that." What the heck! I was getting migraines 3-4 times a week til I started this new medicine. I still get them and I got one the other day just from wearing a hat! I don't know any of my medical history and I have told them this many times. No blood tests, no searches for anything! For all I know I could be dying from a tumor or cancer, or really have something wrong! And why the heck don't I have a period?! I hate this! I hate not knowing anything about my body! What the hell is wrong with me?! I am having such a bad day!
If they are not finding a cause, maybe you frequent illnesses are psychophysiological in nature. You talk about a lot of stressors. You never know. It might be worth looking into.

I would get a second opinion pronto!!! Get a doctor who will run thorough tests. I used to think it was just all in my head until I finally found a pcp willing to do tons of blood tests and we found out my ana level was out of whack which indicated that I have an auto-immune disorder (normally Lupus but also can be Rheumatoid Arthritis, etc.). ONce that was determined they finally gave me the MRI, though thank goodness nothing showed up.
I hope you get to the bottom of it 'cause missing your cycle like that is just an indicator that something is going on.

I live in Philly.
Cool!!! I haven't reallly gone over the agenda in great detail enough to know when I get out each day but maybe if we have time I could meet you for coffee! If not, can you recommend a good place to get an authentic Philly Cheesesteak? I'll be staying at the Hyatt to give you an idea of location. Is there anything good to do within walking distance?
Tangerine is really good, too. I wouldn't call it Moroccan, but the guides call it that. It is good, though.

I don't know how insurance works where you live, but it sounds like it's time to go to another doctor or medical group ASAP.

Silver is just too cheap to reflect this!

.
Was it JP? (only kidding JP). and what about my committment, I don't even wear a ring!
Not sure who said this, but I think for a lot of MENA people, gold is valuable because it holds its value. Diamonds, other stones and siliver are considered 'cheap'. Thel thinking is that gold gives a women wealth independent of her husband.

Awww..I'm glad I come to mind when Tiffany's is mentioned.
Oh and I LOVE the little blue box, I have a few.

So like its stuck in the system purge so it totally won't be accessible until um maybe next week, k? Um, you could maybe like call back then?"
What happened to PROFESSIONALISM??? K?

That is what Usama told me. I asked what we will do about rings and he said we'll just go to the store and get them and have them engraved. I was kinda shocked like it was no big deal but I guess it's a common thing. I could care less what I wear. I just want something to remind me of him though.

Do you know if the sizes there are the same as sizes here? He said he could get it done ahead of time if he knew my size but I don't even know my size since I"ve lost weight and I wasn't sure if it would be the same or not.
They had a ring sizer there and just slipped on a ring that i was wearing to get the size . . . then they found one of the same size.
Why don't you draw around another ring you have and send it to him?? do you have a scanner, lol?? you will be there so soon that I hesitate to recommend doing the "string around the finger" and mailing it to him, hehe.
