Disaster is never good Jackie. I hope your day is better today. good.gif The hubster took the car to work today (on the icy roads) He assured me he had driven on solid ice before and told me to trust him. (heheheh he knows me too well) I guess he made it ok, I never got a call saying otherwise. laughing.gif

So, what is everyone's plans today? Are you cleaning, shopping, or lounging? Myself, I am measuring a house, then sitting at my desk til 5pm, then measuring another house. By 6:30, my plan is to be snuggled on my couch under my snuggly blanket. Til then,,,,have a great Sunday!

NO! tongue.gif It's only 1/2 over!

As for me, had my makeup done at MAC again yesterday w/ my favorite girl there and it looked so gorgeous. I came home, had a web-date w/ Said and then went back to MAC to bring her a daquiri b/c she had to work so late and it was gonna be a long nite star_smile.gif
I then celebrated having this gorgeous makeup on by...... falling asleep on the sofa! wacko.gif
Oh well... taking doggies out for a walk soon, scooter ride, lite housekeeping, visiting the ailing aunt & my parents. I think that sums it up luv.gif .

Jackie, I hope your "disaster" wasn't too bad... I'm all curious now whistling.gif .

Good Morning! I rather agree about the weekend being almost over . . . the glass half-empty syndrome I guess . . . I could use 4-day weekends a bit more often as it always seems to take me until the 2nd day to get into things that need to be done.

Today I have a dance lesson at noon, then I get to spend what is left of the afternoon getting ready for a social event for our local dance association which starts at 6pm. I really don't like Sunday evening social events but it is the cheapest time to commandeer a whole restaurant for a private party. It is also very cold again here . . . can't put my plants back outside or uncover the ones that are there. I finally had to give up on saving them all so I need to cut back the ones that froze.

Anyway . . . have a productive Sunday!!

I made my first tagine yesterday thanks to Sarah, (whoi is so kindly trying to help keep my mind off of the visa ) biggrin.gif . And it was quite the hit. Even my roommates who normally eat what I consider very bland/boring food, raved about the tagine! And my son made the mint tea in his new tea set...so we ate like real moroccans. Oh omar will be so proud of me laughing.gif Now I will search for one made with chicken instead of kefta, although the kefta was great.

Today I will see how to adjust me week to my new work schedule. Less time in the office and more time at home to study and get the nursing thing done. Well at least I can feel confident I'll pass the injection portion!! laughing.gif

Thanks to Charles for taking my cold weather, I am no longer freezing. It is staying up in the 40's. You are such a pal Charles. tongue.gif

mybackpages - I was thinking the same thing about the weekend going too quickly. I made big dua at fajr today that I get the relaxation I need before my kids come back to me tomorrow. I just have been too stressed lately! sad.gif

noura - Is MAC makeup hypoallergenic? I've always walked by that section in Macys wondering what it's like 'cause it looks so cool. I use Clinique because I'm allergic of most everything else.

cbd - I give you credit for your gardening skills. I have a black thumb bigtime. My oldest sister on the other hand has the greenest thumb of anyone I know. She and her hubby have a deal with the guy who tends the graveyard across the street. He brings them all the dead plants that he would normally toss out and they bring them back to life and plant them in their garden. They have a HUGE garden and they have not purchased even one of the plants in it.

My plans for today....if I don't blow it all off by staying on this computer:

change everyone's sheets
put all stray toys away
organize the paperwork that is scattered throughout this house
DUST
rearrange furniture in living room and put Christmas tree up. (consists of fluffing it and plugging it in..it's a fiberoptic tree.)
put halloween decorations away and replace with Christmas decorations
do 4 loads of laundry
clean refridge and freezer
clean bathroom
do grocery shopping
make one casserole and two soups for the week

Hopefully I'll get all that done by 6pm so I can rest for an hour before I have my nightly cyberdate.

I'm not sure... but it's what most professionals use - check out http://www.maccosmetics.com/home.tmpl
I get a "pro" discount there b/c of my business and I love their cosmetics! Also, if you make a $50 purchase they'll do your makeup for "free" (but you have to ask or make an appt). We have a Macy's here too, but I've never even been in it - I always go to the MAC store.

Holy Moly, girl, what were you two up to?

Jackie, out of probably a dozen company holiday parties, I'd guess most ended in disaster of some sort for me. I honestly don't know what happens then suddenly someone has a meltdown, or someone drinks too much, or someone's fighting with their husband, or office fights come out.

Woke up at 11:30. Wadi's still sleeping.

Looks like it'll just be a lazy day - my favorite kind! biggrin.gif

Oh my gosh Doodle, you're really gonna do all that today??!!! I'm worn out just thinking about it. tongue.gif
But I didn't get my dusting done yesterday either. biggrin.gif

My son and I watched Ant Bully last night. Cute movie. I love animated films.
We're going to replant some cactus plants today that we keep in the bay window. I've been saying that about replanting them for longer than I'd like to admit but that's my main goal today.
I doubt I'll get to the dusting.

I'm also planning on my son and I making some winter decorations for the house since I decided not to put up Christmas decorations, though if my son wants any Christmas decorations he can have some for his room.

Typical Sunday. Clean house, laundry, go help my dad, grocery shopping, blah and boring. I did wrap a few presents today so the tree doesn't look so bare, that part was fun.

What I really want to do is go Christmas shopping, but certain things need to be done first and I doubt it will leave me time. I really hope my husband is here in time to Christmas shop with me. I want him to get a first hand view of Christmas here in the US. Hopefully he will understand why this holiday is so important to me, I am so grateful that he is open to letting me celebrate it like I normally do. Christmas to me has always been about family.

I don't drink, so I would be the odd one out. I wonder if this has to do with those who drink gravitating towards others who do, and those who don't seeking out the same.

I also do not accept smoking in my home, so Abderrafie would be one ice-cold Moroccan in the winter!

I don't think you will learn what is halal or haram by asking what other Muslims do. Like any religion, people vary in what they follow, or in their interpretation of what is right/wrong to begin with.

If you are confused about what is halal or haram, the Qur'an is an excellent source, definitely a better choice than asking after the habits of other Muslims. If you you have questions about you read, you can try to reconcile it with other texts - or you can turn to one of the main madhabs if you don't care to work these things out for yourself individually.

Not sure how many Muslims you know, but I know a decent amount that "practice" and drink alcohol. I think "practice" is relative too. I personal think it is up to the individual to define whether or not they are practicing their faith.

ETA: Some of the Muslims that drink include those that are recognizable by name that you see on television and are considered by some to be spokespeople for reform.

Also Doodle if you want to know if alcohol is halal or haram then why did you ask if Hicham drinks to find out?

As I said, Sarah, I wanted to know if there was a loophole since I miss my white wine. I don't know any practicing muslims that drink but then again I'm new and for all I knew it could perhaps be a more controversial issue such as whether to veil or not. Don't worry...I won't be asking you any more questions lest you snap at me again. Enough people have let me know the scoop on if there is leeway on it. Thanks hon...you're a peach. rose.gif

Just like anything else, anywhere else, "muslim" is defined in as many ways as the number of muslims that exist in the world. If you want to drink wine, and you don't feel like that changes your relationship with god, that is your business and doesn't make you a bad or non-practicing Muslim. I think one of the most fantastic parts of Islam is that it is all about your personal relationship with god. It is your business how you define your faith, and how you figure that out with god. No one else can make you a better anything, no one else's opinions determine if you are a good muslim.

There are muslims who drink who would be horrified to hear someone refer to them as "non-religious" or "non-practicing." The same goes for lots of things....eating halal, praying, etc.
