Thought someone posted something about his/her fiance's passport will expire in 2008. Mine is also going to expire in 2008....is it really necessary to have it renewed before I have to fill out my DS 156 later? Cuz it asks for your passport number, right?

No it is not necessary to have it renewed, you need at least 6 months validity on the passport when the visa is issued.

Another poster just recommended to renew the passport, keep in mind some countries don't renew passports unless they are closer to expiration, and you can always get it renewed through your country's Consulate or Embassy in the United states after you travel to the States on your Visa.

True..I've read that to renew my passport it needs to be at least 6 months away from the expiration date. Is it possible to re-new my passport during the AOS process?
