Eli
Hey hey all,

So I've gotten my interview date and medical appointments in Vancouver confirmed as being both on January 3rd, and I know it's okay to do them on the same day, but I am wondering if anyone here has done that and could share the experience? How long does the medical take? I know that it is first come-first serve, but when I called I was told the medicals start at 7am and the interview is at 10:30 right? I'm sure I must be worrying over nothing but there will definitely be enough time between the medical and the interview to make it to the interview? Anything I should know about going to the interview without my medical stuff? After my interview I will go back to the medical clinic to get my results and then take them straight back to the consulate, right? If everything clears, should I be able to expect my visa same day, next day, or will it take extra processing time because I didn't take the medical results right to the interview?

Thanks!!

Is there anyway you could call the clinic and explain your situation and asked to be scheduled a day or two earlier? From what I recall of my exam in Vancouver, it took a long time, and there were a ton of people. I believe that they tell everyone 7am, so that's not really a guaranteed time. I also think it would be much better to be able to bring all your documents to your interview with you, just to avoid any complications.

I hope it all works out, you must be excited it's so soon now smile.gif
Eli
Vancouver only does medicals on Wednesdays. A week before that would be the 27th, two days after Christmas, and when I called I was told they "may" be open that day. Otherwise I would have to go another week before that which would be the 20th, which is really inconvenient for me, as is anything sooner... so really unless they do the medicals on the 27th, the only workable date for me is the 3rd of January. Maybe if I got there at something like 5:30 am I would be first and it would be okay??

EDIT: it was the clinic that recommended I do my medical on the same day as my interview as "a lot of people are doing that recently."

I know I read a post earlier about someone arriving at 6am, and there were only 2 other people there at that point. So hopefully it will work out.

I have heard about people having something missing, getting it to the consulate, and not having any problem... but it would make me nervous. But hopefully it won't be a big deal smile.gif

Try and get in on the 27th if they are open (how can they not know if they're open or not!) and if not, definitely try and be the first in line even if that means waiting 2-3 hours before they open. Good luck! smile.gif

yep, that was me. Show up early Eli. Also, the couple that showed up first had their interview that day, and they were out in time. Maybe they were able to arrange an earlier pick-up time for the results... bring them in the same time you normally go pick up the visa? Maybe you can call the clinic and ask when they give same-day interview people the results?

People do it, so there must be some sort of procedure in place. Hopefully someone who has done it will show up and tell you!

Yikes! I'd ask the consulate if they can schedule your interview for the following day.

i met a gentleman there was doing the same thing....he was #3 so he got out in time...apparently did the interview and they just asked that he bring the results back as soon as he got them. Didn't seem to be a problem with it. Hopefully yours works out well but def. show up early, and try to do your paperwork fairly quickly once you get it....cuz it actually ended up being first to finish the paperwork got the first # when i was there. Good luck

ps may be the next day for the medical to go through the consulate (not sure)
Eli
Upon receiving my interview date I immediately emailed the consulate to see if I could switch interview dates but they responded quite bluntly:
"No! We are very heavily booked, no changes can be made at this time."

As far as I recall being told, results from the medical are available for pickup at 1 or 2pm the same day, and from what I've heard you pick up the visa at 2pm also, so seems like I could pick up the stuff from the medical after my interview and return it to the consulate pretty quickly. I thought I had read about someone doing that but I might have been making it up in my head tongue.gif. I will definitely be getting there early. What kind of info goes on these forms (so I can mentally prepare myself to blast through them)? Stuff like address, birth date, etcetera etcetera, or does it go into medical history and eveything? You guys who got their early, about how long did it take, from form-filling to leaving? Is the physical exam pretty quick?

Sorry I am so pesky!! I just really like knowing what to expect (bless VJ, bringing peace of mind to Type A beneficiaries around the world tongue.gif)

Hey,

Was reading this posting and it raised questions for me. My fiance is in Vancouver now, has his medical appt. scheduled for Wednesday. He thought that he had to do that first, then fax the checklist in to the consulate before he could set up his interview. Are we doing this all wrong??? Could he have gotten his medical and interview set up for the same date?
riblet
The main answer to your question is fax in your checklist! You are just supposed to schedule the medical, then return the checklist, not wait until the medical is done. That doesn't necessarily mean he could have had both the same day, they are totally separate, but the longer you wait to return the checklist, the longer it will be until the interview.

Thank you Riblet smile.gif

Wish I had found this site before yesterday .....

Also, what do I do with the affidavit of support? Send to my fiance? Fax to the consulate? I have been stressed for the past week and not sleeping well which has made my thinking totally foggy smile.gif
riblet
I'm pretty sure you send it to your fiance, maybe someone else can confirm. Try not to exhaust yourself smile.gif
JMW
def. send it to your fiance, she'll need it for her interview along with the OF-167 attachment.

I just received my K3 pack 3 today and in the check list it suggest to
have the medical done at least weeks prior to your interview

I'm a little concered about this too. We are requesting a Thursday for an interview, hoping that we can get in the medical on Wednesday. But you never know what the actual date the Embassy is going to give us.

I'm an oldie but a goodie that hasn't been around posting for a LONG time, but my son and I just had our medicals in Vancouver last Wednesday (Nov. 29) and it was VERY BUSY !!!!!.....I can't stress getting there by 6am enough yes.gif We got there at 630am and it was 1130am before we even got in for our medical exam, we were #20 and most of the people before us were families of 3-5 blink.gif .....I think the reason why Vancouver is NOT letting people change their dates is because they really ARE fully booked with SO many people right now.....I was considering changing my interview date of January 2 to a later time in January because I don't have my updated Child Custody stuff ready but I'm sticking with it and handing it in later....I'm not too sure about the whole getting the medical in the morning and handing it in later in the afternoon to the Consulate AFTER the interview *shrugs*

Oh wait, I lied....I think when I took my friend Lily in for her interview last year, she had something FedEx'd to her after her interview but before she picked up her Visa in the afternoon....She must have handed it in when she picked up her Visa, not sure how that would work with the medical stuff, I'm assuming it would work the same....I know for a fact that they have told people that they can bring stuff back in 1 or 2 days later (as I'm going to have to do with my Child Custody stuff) so I think it should be OK (please don't quote me on this or yell at me later if I'm wrong) whistling.gif

I am doing a medical appointment in advance not
on the same day as the visa interview (way to much stress)

Thursday 21 December...as they are not doing appointments on Wed.
I chose the 13 to get it done and over with and not having to do the
