I've never started a daily thread before.

kicking.gif kicking.gif

Just sippin' my tea here before I go get my hair trimmed and hilighted. Then I'm off to do hopefully all of my Christmas shopping.

BTW....I'm takin' a risk but I put my picture up in my profile. blush.gif Dunno how long I'll keep it up but I'm trying to get used to seeing myself in hijaab. Usama and I had a looong discussion last night about his wishes of me wearing it once he is here. I do understand a lot of what he was telling me and I am considering it. For those of you who are Muslim please make big dua for me that I feel it from within me to wear it sooner rather than later. I don't honestly know what is stopping me except fear and I think I just have to weigh what I fear most....Allah or the opinions of people who will judge me by a piece of cloth on my head. Please no debates on whether or not a muslimah should wear it because of that I am already convinced. I'm just chicken is all. And no I will not be doing it for him, he is just trying to make me understand why it is something I as a muslimah should do and he said he will obviously accept what I decide in the end.

i never got to be first to respond either ha , you look very nice in your picture and very young, please start now to do in life what you see for yourself and your husband dont ever worry what others will think. By doing that you will be letting others control your life, believe me im older and have been thru that many times. good.gif

you look very cute in hijab, doodle! i'm waiting for the directTV ppl to come install this morning then I'll probably run off to do some Saturday errands. Not sure why, but I'm really wanting to cook chicken & sweet potatoes in the crock pot, so that'll be happening a little later. It's quite chilly this morning (35 degrees) but I'm planning to take the scooter out anyway... a little run to the farmer's market & the bank! We'll see.......
Have a great day everyone!

Doodlebug, you siad it best yourself. You just hav to feel it within you. It's a process within yourself. Don;t place expectations on yourself that are difficult to measure up to. God knows what is in your heart. rose.gif

Thanks for sharing the picture, but I wanted to see the new highlights tongue.gif

Cute picture Doodle. You look great wearing hijab. smile.gif

I got a whole 7 1/2 hours of sleep last night. kicking.gif
I was a lil short on sleep during the week so it was really nice.

My son and I are going to the evil walmart this morning so I can get a passport photo taken to mail in with my visa application to the Egyptian embassy.
The post office is having a local radio station broadcasting there with a toys for tots thing, so I hope it's not too crowded.

Doing a TON of housework today. I hate dusting so it tends to build up but then after a while it drives me crazy and I have to go through and just get every nook and cranny in the whole place.
Also doing some more work on the quilt this weekend. Insha'Allah I'll actually get close to finishing it by the end of the weekend.

It's still beautiful and sunny here, also still near freezing in the morning and at night.
Better than rain I guess. tongue.gif

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Doodle if you wear hijab it should be your choice, not because your husband convinced you to. Why does he want you to wear it so bad?

Doodle, I think you look very nice. You have me thinking about big, life changing decisions. When I am fearful, I have to ask myself if my reluctance is strictly fear of the unknown, of judgement, of doing something against the grain, so to speak, or if I really am just not ready for a change, whether it be timing, or not having had enough time to feel it in my heart to do it. I'd just suggest you consider this, and I'm sure you have, but something this important cannot be forced, no matter how much we want to do something, for ourselves, for our loved ones.

There are lots of articles and stories by women who have documented their reversion journey, the best of which I'd highly suggest to you, since it coincides with your personal journey as well as your trip to Egypt. It's quite a good book especially since it's written by an American woman who reverted more than 15 years ago. She has children, too, so you might find quite a bit in common with her.

If you don't mind my asking, since I am newer to the forum, how long have you known your fiance?

Oh wow! Thanks! I'm gonna buy it and read it on the plane! good.gif

I have known Usama for about 8 months now.

I am definitely doing it for myself, not for him, though I'd be lying if I said I wasn't taking his opinion into consideration. He feels so strongly about it I think because of the culture he is from but also because he truly feels it is an order from God for women to cover and he feels that he needs to protect me since I'm a pretty new convert.

Well I got about 3/4 of my shopping done and my hair hilighted and trimmed. Quite productive if I do say so myself. whistling.gif I hit the 20% off sale at Macys (includes EVERYTHING good.gif ), a sale at J.Jill, Limited Two, Talbots and Fashion Bug. Now I just have to order some stuff online at Abercrombie n Fitch and Toys R Us and I'm good to go! biggrin.gif

Melly I soooo have to dust and I HATE it 'cause I start sneezing!!! It's always last on my list of things to do. I still have to sort out my clothes for the trip and I have a trip this week to Philly for a conference I'm going to so I have to pack for that too. I'm hoping to visit the Liberty Bell, get a souvenier with a Ben Franklin theme and eat a philly cheesesteak. yes.gif
peezey

My favorite Philly souveneir from the Liberty Bell gift shop was a pocket sized Declaration of Independence, Constitution, Bill of Rights that I actually carry in my bag everyday.

"Believing As Oursleves" is not a sugarcoated viewpoint. Lynn Jones says what she means and she is not always sweet about Muslims or Islamic practices. I've recommended this book to converts myself because there is a lot of naivete among them - the boyfriend Islam thing. Sorry, I know that shouldn't be mentioned in public, but it's true.
melly
I laughed when I read the meaning of boyfriend Islam. I always worry that people will think I reverted because of my fiance or that I listen to everything he says as gospel and don't think for myself.
I certainly value his views and ideas, as he's had years to think about things that are brand new to me. But there are things that we don't quite agree on and we're okay with that. He'd never try to force me to do anything I didn't want.

What a blah day today . . . I've been having some bad headaches, so I decided not to finish up the painting . . . pain fumes make my headaches worse, LOL!!

I think I'll go to bed and read for awhile . . . Good Night!!
