I am just curious...

I like "I saw Mommy kissing Santa Claus"...
there is another song I like called "Santa looked a lot like Daddy"
QUOTE
Well, Santa looked a lot like daddy
Or daddy looked a lot like him
It's not the way I had him pictured
Santa was much too thin
He didn't come down the chimney
So mama must have let him in
Santa looked a lot like daddy
Or daddy looked a lot like him
Well, they thought I was fast-a-sleppin'
They thought that I was tucked in his bed
They never thought I'd come a-peepin'
Or that I'd hear what was said
Santa put his arm around mama
And mama put her arm around him
So if Santa Claus ain't daddy
Well then I'm a gonna tell on them
Repeat Chorus:
I never saw Dancer or Prancer
I never heard the sleigh bells ring
I never saw a red-nosed reindeer
Like they show on the TV screen
But he sure brought lots of presents
So Santa Claus he must have been
Well he sure looked a lot like daddy
Or daddy looked a lot like him
as for Christmas carol's, I don't have one favourite that I can think of right now.. I like most of them...

First one, other- O Holy Night
Second one- I picked White Christmas. My favorite version is the faster one, that sounds more 50's style (know which one I mean?). Maybe because I've been dreaming of a White Christmas most of my life!

Favorite Carol - O Holy Night.
Favorite Song - Carol of the Bells.
These were tough choices! I was in my university performance choir and my favorite time of year was when we'd split into small groups and go caroling at various nursing homes, shelters, and hospitals. There are so many Christmas carols that mean so much to me because of that and that I find painfully beautiful - it's nearly impossible to choose!

First category: "Of the Father's Love Begotten"
Second category: I don't really care for most of the ones listed, as they leave out the point of Christmas.

Ding Dong Merily on High and Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer.
Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer
Grandma got run over by a reindeer
Walking home from our house Christmas eve.
You can say there's no such thing as Santa,
But as for me and Grandpa, we believe.
She'd been drinkin' too much egg nog,
And we'd begged her not to go.
But she'd left her medication,
So she stumbled out the door into the snow.
When they found her Christmas mornin',
At the scene of the attack.
There were hoof prints on her forehead,
And incriminatin' Claus marks on her back.
Grandma go run over by a reindeer,
Walkin' home from our house Christmas eve.
You can say there's no such thing as Santa,
But as for me and Grandpa, we believe.
Now were all so proud of Grandpa,
He's been takin' this so well.
See him in there watchin' football,
Drinkin' beer and playin' cards with cousin Belle.
It's not Christmas without Grandma.
All the family's dressed in black.
And we just can't help but wonder:
Should we open up her gifts or send them back?
Grandma got run over by a reindeer,
Walkin' home from our house Christmas eve.
You can say there's no such thing as Santa,
But as for me and Grandpa, we believe.
Now the goose is on the table
And the pudding made of pig.
And a blue and silver candle,
That would just have matched the hair in Grandma's wig.
I've warned all my friends and neighbours.
Better watch out for yourselves."
They should never give a license,
To a man who drives a sleigh and plays with elves.
Grandma got run over by a reindeer,
Walkin' home from our house, Christmas eve.
You can say there's no such thing as Santa,
But as for me and Grandpa, we believe

I didn't have room to put all the Christmas songs... it was hard to narrow it down to 12 or so...

I can't believe I didn't think of "Oh Holy Night" though...
Oh and the "I don't have a favourite" option means that you can't narrow it down to just one or you like Christmas carols or songs as a whole etc...
My favourite has to be Fairytale of New York.

One of my favorite "fun" Christmas songs has got to be the Chipmunk Xmas song. Always makes me smile!

The reason I picked Jingle Bells is this is the first Christmas song my wife learned, love her accent.
JINGLE BELLS
James Pierpont - 1857
Dashing through the snow
In a one-horse open sleigh
O'er the fields we go
Laughing all the way;
Bells on bob-tail ring
Making spirits bright
What fun it is to ride and sing
A sleighing song tonight!
O! Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way!
O what fun it is to ride,
In a one-horse open sleigh, hey!
Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way!
O what fun it is to ride,
In a one-horse open sleigh!
A day or two ago
I thought I'd take a ride
And soon Miss Fanny Bright
Was seated by my side;
The horse was lean and lank;
Misfortune seemed his lot;
He got into a drifted bank
And we, we got upsot!
O! Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way!
O what fun it is to ride,
In a one-horse open sleigh, hey!
Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way!
O what fun it is to ride,
In a one-horse open sleigh!
A day or two ago
The story I must tell
I went out on the snow
And on my back I fell;
A gent was riding by
In a one-horse open sleigh
He laughed as there
I sprawling lay
But quickly drove away!
O! Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way!
O what fun it is to ride,
In a one-horse open sleigh, hey!
Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way!
O what fun it is to ride,
In a one-horse open sleigh!
Now the ground is white
Go it while you're young
Take the girls tonight
And sing this sleighing song;
Just get a bob-tailed bay
two-forty as his speed
Hitch him to an open sleigh
And crack! you'll take the lead
O! Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way!
O what fun it is to ride,
In a one-horse open sleigh, hey!
Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way!
O what fun it is to ride,
In a one-horse open sleigh!

Carol: "Hark the Herald Angels sing"
Song: "'Twas in the moon of wintertime" (one of the few songs other than "Angels we have heard on high" to use the word "excelsis")

Christmas carol: too many to mention! There's nothing better than singing Christmas carols in an old church with great acoustics with a full choir. /sigh
Christmas song: oh, Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer always makes me laugh---whenever it would come on the radio my dad and brother and I would laugh hysterically, while my mother would go "you all are sick people"
PS: CherryXS: Twas in the moon of wintertime is actually named The Huron Carol.

My favorite christmas song is the mormon tabernacle choir singing the christmas parts of The Messiah -- there must be a god if Handel could create a work of such beauty in 24 days
Secular stuff - Fairytale of New York!

I think my favorite secular Christmas song is this one by Tom Leher:
Christmastime is here by golly
Disapproval would be folly
Deck the Halls with hunks of holly
Fill the cups and don't say "When."
Kill the turkeys, ducks and chickens
Mix the punch and drag out the Dickens
Even though the prospect sickens
Brother, here we go again.
On Christmas Day you can't get sore
Your fellow man you must adore
There's time to rob him all the more
The other three hundred sixty-four.
Relations bearing no expensil
Send some useless old utensil
Or a matching pen and pencil
"Just the thing I needed, how nice..."
It doesn't matter how sincere it is
Or how heart-felt the spirit
Sentiment will not endear it
What's important is...the price!
Hark the Herald Tribune sings
Advertising wondrous things!
God rest ye merry merchants
May ye make the Yuletide pay.
Angels we have heard on high
Tell us to go out and buy.
So when you hear those rackous sleigh bells jingle
Hail our dear old friend Kris Kringle
Driving his reindeer across the sky
DON'T STAND UNDERNEATH!
As they fly by.

Dunno the difference between "carol" and "song." I said "other" for both.
Carol of the Bells
Christmas at Ground Zero
I listen to these no matter what the season---neither me nor the bf do xmas.

I was going through my cds the other day and I found my Pretenders Greatest Hits -- this should be the VJ CHristmas song!
Hes gone 2000 miles
Its very far
The snow is falling down
Gets colder day by day
I miss you
The children will sing
Hell be back at christmastime
In these frozen and silent nights
Sometimes in a dream you appear
Outside under the purple sky
Diamonds in the snow sparkle
Our hearts were singing
It felt like christmastime
2000 miles
Is very far through the snow
Ill think of you
Wherever you go
Hes gone 2000 miles
Its very far
The snow is falling down
Gets colder day by day
I miss you
I can hear people singing
It must be christmastime
I hear people singing
It must be christmastime

I don't know the name of it... but it goes something like this (at least part of it):
"Fall on your knees,
Oh hear the angels voices,
Oh night divine...."
Anyone know the name?
