I have always wanted to go to Egypt but my husband says it isn't safe there right now. blah!

Why does he say it's not safe? huh.gif

What I have heard and is probably wrong is that there have been bombings against American tourists but I am not sure.

Don't worry Doodle!

Oh ok. I've heard about those too. I think the last ones were in March of this year or something. I guess I just figure I'm in more jeapordy where I work since there's shootings all the time around my office.

Shootings at a University!?

I think I know where you must work! laughing.gif

We have two campuses. One is mostly for the undergrads near the Charles River and the other is the Med Campus which is in the South End. That's the campus I work at and although they're trying to clean it up the bulk of the killings in the news in Boston are right in that area.

hahaha

Actually that's not even the half of it since the NEIDL will be practically across the street from my office. blink.gif (for those who don't know...that's a site the Homeland Security is building where they will be housing the most lethal viruses on earth. huh.gif )

I traveled to Egypt by myself twice and was perfectly safe both times. Sure, there have been a couple bombings in tourist locations, but my husband says they were not really targeting anyone in particular. Crime rate is very low in Egypt. You are more likely to have something happen to you in the U.S than in Egypt. yes.gif

I don't think there is anywhere you can go that is safe anymore. It's open season on the world, unfortunatly anything can happen anytime, anywhere. sad.gif

I used to think Jordan was safe too, 3 weeks after I left there were hotel bombings. sad.gif

Thats what he said. I assured him that I would wear the hijab but he said that they aren't targeting Americans or Europeans, but just whoever. I think he is just extremely cautious and very protective. I hope someday he feels more comfortable going there, I have always wanted to go there since I was young. I seriously considered archiology for a career because of my fascination with Egypt, but I figured everything to be discovered there probably already has been.

I remember when they had the King Tut tomb and findings at our local University. It was like I died and gone to heaven.

My husband doesn't understand my fascination with these things, but I think he is used to having ancient sites so easily accessable. We just don't have that here other than Native American ruins, which I don't find nearly as interesting.
