he would like me to iron most of his clothes but I told him before we got married that I don't do ironing

I don't iron....and I find most things don't need ironing as long as they are transferred from washer to drier and removed from the drier quickly and folded or hung.
My husband's mother ironed EVERYTHING and I know he thinks I should do the same....yeah right!!!

He wants everything ironed....then he can iron it!

I will iron some things, but it has to be *really* wrinkled and/or for a very important reason (of which I am unable to think of right now

). I rarely dry any of my clothes but if I leave them hang long enough they're usually fine.

I won't iron. I'll iron if I'm traveling and it's to something important and an ironing board is convenient. This perfect storm of ironing conditions does not often occur in my life, however.

This reminds me of that Ricky Gervais Show podcast where they discuss how embarrassing it is to buy an ironing board because you have to carry it home and everyone can tell what it is because you can't put it in a bag, and then people know you didn't already have one.... and... I guess you had to be there...

I iron most of our clothes. I hate the thought of wearing jeans that just aren't soft - even with drier sheets they somehow seem hard. My husband and son think it's hilarious that I iron t.shirts that they just wear to work on the car or to go camping in. I just like the feel of clothes when they have been ironed. I iron all bedding too - I love the feel of clean, pressed sheets.
So, if you are mad, mags, then I am just totally off the scale!

When I was growing up my Mum would pay me to do her ironing. All my Dad's work shirts and the sheets etc. She paid me £1.50 p/h. I used to do it in my bedroom. I'd charge her for about 4 hours work, one hour I would be ironing, the other three were spent lounging on my bed listening to music....
So I guess I WAS her luxury in life, albeit one that was ripping her off!

Another ironer here though I draw the line at undies. I also don't use the dryer and hang my washing out. Even if it's -15c and sunny they still get dry. I iron all of my clothes and the ole man does his own. He never owned an iron until he met me. Now he loves doing it. I taught him well.

Yessirree, I iron my clothes every time that I unpack them (been about every two years or so since 1982) and not at any other time. Usually, I don't wear them between packs and unpacks---or, I didn't until I started the office contract in early July. Now, I am expected to wear the "office casual" M-R, but not F 'cause they do Casual Fridays. However, I still don't iron the clothes---I take 'em outta the dryer hot and fold them or hang them while still hot with the hopes that my mother's advice will never fail.
And, it hasn't yet. ;-)

I hate ironing, I usually try to buy clothes that doesn't require ironing, but of course hubby does not operate on the same theory (since he's got me) he doesn't have to iron anyway.
Maybe its because I find ironing so darn frustrating, the water leaks form the iron, and by the time I'm done one area..I managed to magically make a crease in another area, that's a real B@#$% to get out.

I ironed our wrinkled going out clothes/handkerchiefs(love it when nicely folded). I love to wear ironed jeans. Ohhh my undies (for sanitary purposes). Linens too (nice to look at in bed and very comfy).
This may sound weird but I make sure our whites are very white so after washing the clothes i checked if the whites are like new if not i soaked it in vinegar for at least 24 hrs then soap again and rinsing. I am not happy if we are not looking neat and clean. It's very important to me so my fiance' was now happy to do the hand washing of white shirts too.

I'm surprised he doesnt resist or get upset when he do manuals too

I told him if u dont want this DONT buy white clothes.

My way of getting the wrinkles out is throwing whatever in the dryer for 5-10 minutes!

I think I've ironed MAYBE 5 times, which was usually a frilly little dress my daughter had to wear.

I iron only if it really needs it. Sujeet irons his clothes for work because I am not very good at it, and he actually likes ironing.
