I am going to fly through JFK, so it is going to be my POE. Since I am not that good with English I am trying to learn what I will need to do when I arrive there. Step-by-step. When do I get my luggage? (I have connection flight to Orlando, so should I get my luggage in JFK or only in Orlando airport?) When they take a yellow package from me? Is it a special room for immigration?

I also read that people give officers a blue paper. I am not sure what it is? Is it something like declaration? And is it nesessary to fill it out if I have nothing to declare?

The Consulate will give you a yellow/brown envelope when you receive your visa. Do not open it. This you will hand to the immigration officer at passport control. On the airplane, the flight crew will hand out the paperwork. You should fill the I-94 (white in color not the green one) as well as a customs declaration form (even if you have nothing to declare). When you arrive and get in line and wait until you get to an officer, then you will hand over your passport, I-94, customs form and the yellow/brown package. Typically then you will be taken to a room to wait while they process your visa. After you clear immigration, the officer will return your passport, I-94 and customs form. Then you will retrieve your luggage so you can clear customs. The customs officer will take the customs declaration form from you. Now comes the fun part. Now you will need to re-check your luggage for your Orlando flight. Depending on the airline you will be taking to Orlando, you may need to change terminals for that the flight. JFK has a train that will take you to the other terminals if you require.

Not everything is exactly the same for you, you will need to complete a white I-94 form on the plane (and be SURE to get it back from the Immigration officer after she or he stamps it when you arrive--it should be stapled into your passport).

But I think it explains what you do with your luggage etc.

You will be landing in the international section of JFK. That means you are going to have to get your luggage, drag it over to the customs table for exmaination. They have carts you can rent to haul the luggage around if you have a lot. You will have filled out the customs card on the plane. You will then go to immigrations with your package. While there ask for temporary weork permit which is a stamp they put in your visa i believe.

Then you bwqill have to find what gate your plane to orlando is leaving from, I don't know if they will switch your bags to the orlando plane for you or not.

When you land at JFK...remeber to ask for a Temporary EAD stamp. This way you can work while your EAD is porcessing

Meuxna is correct. It doesn't matter where you fly from. I think K-1 visa holders need to go to the visitor's line, not sure, but you can ask the official at the end of the passport line(or show them the envelope), and they will direct you accordingly. My husband had no problem. Since he was immigrating, we were directed to the US citizens line...no wait in line!!!We flew in together and they gave me his opened packet and told us to go to the side door where they process the paperwork. It was pretty easy and took us all but 20 mins. You will need to get your bags and transfer to the domestic terminals where your flight is departing. There is a counter after you exit that is specifically for transfers and they can direct you to the appropriate terminal.

The blue paper is the customs declaration that you turn over to the CBP before you exit baggage claim. You'll also need the white I-94 as stated in previous post. You will get both on the plane. Bon voyage
